Harbor Shores announces the opening of the small course
Unique Pitch-and-Putt course is the newest golf attraction and facilities that positively influence the next generation of golfers, resort guests and the community
Benton Harbor, Mich. – Harbor ShoresThe Lake Michigan Shoreline Golf destination with his Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Golf Course, announces the opening of the next golf attraction, the Wee Course. This new short pitch-and-putt course, designed by Hall of Fame Golfer and 2014 and 2015 KitchenAid Senior PGA champion, Colin Montgomerie, will open for Limited Preview Play Labor Day Weekend. Children will play for free and youth programming will be a priority.
“I am very happy to be part of this special project with Harbor Shores, a place and community that I hold close to my heart,” said Montgomerie. “The small course is more than just a golf supply – it is a gathering place for every generation. After you have seen how short courses bring people around the world together, especially in Scotland, I know that this course will create the same feeling of community here. With nine holes that can be played in an hour, resort guests, families and youth will be a nice way to give time, one -time to give time, one -time to give time, one -time to give time, one -time to give it to the values, one -fetal, one -feat, one -time, and Investment in both the game and the community that will pay dividends for generations. “
Montgomerie designed the five-hectare, nine-hole woe course with pleasure in mind. The total Yardage varies from only 275 yards to 500 meters. It will consist of short Yardage holes from 20 meters to 80 meters or less with green complexes modeled to the nine most iconic holes of the current layout of Jack Nicklaus. This includes the 7one Hole with a miniature version of Nicklaus’s famous 10one green, the site of one of the wildest puts ever made by him.
The Wee Course has a combination of two sets of T -shirt markings, allowing the option to play 18 holes. The longer T -pieces (blue) have more corners and challenging pitchshots or opt for the forward T -pieces (white) for shorter pitchshots, perfect for children and beginners. Golfers can also use a putter of the forward T pieces on each hole, creating some exciting photos about slopes and hills on their way to the flag. Playing a combination of both sets T pieces can also offer a nice golf option.
This is an exciting new chapter for Harbor Shores and the constant dedication to the community, according to Joshua Doxator, PGA General Manager for Harbor Shores.
“Growing the game is the core of what we do and makes the game affordable and accessible for everyone is the real vision behind the small course,” Doxtator said. “The excitement and anticipation in the community has been electric. From starting to competent players, the WEE course offers entertainment value that has never been seen in SW Michigan before. Colin has been exceptional to cooperate, and his understanding of the impact of the community has been designed throughout the project.”
The small course is also supplemented with the new 18-hole Highlands Greens Putting Course. Inspired by similar attractions in St. Andrews and Pinehurst, this fun 15,000 square foot attraction will have lighting, music and food and drink with Monty’s Place, of which fire pits and informal seats for a maximum of 60 make a great community of the community.
The prices of the Wee Course start at $ 30 for nine holes, $ 40 to 18 holes and $ 50 for the entire day access, including the put course. Children under the age of 12 with an adult will be free, and juniors aged 13-17 are $ 20 with an adult. Season passes are also available.
Jeff Fazy, former chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation and a leading contribution through the FAST Family Foundation, and the visionary behind this expansion of this port, sees this facility that has a major impact on the youth in the community.
“The opening of the small course is another milestone in our mission to make Harbour Shores a real catalyst for community growth,” said it. “This project is about more than golf-it is about inspiring the next generation. With support for programs such as First Tee Benton Harbor and the Boys and Girls Clubs, First Robotics, as well as our three public school foundations, we create a place where area youngsters can learn, grow and experience the game.
This new family -oriented facility at Harbor Shores received support from several business sponsors, including the Whirlpool Foundation, Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital, Indiana Michigan Power’s Cook Plant Foundation and United Federal Credit Union, as well as a number of individual donors. The Wee course emphasizes youth programming and builds on the success of the annual Whirlpool Community Charity Golf event. This event offers $ 3 million+ financing to community youth annually. During his 22-year history, this event has raised more than $ 37 million and has a positive influence every year on more than 10,000 local youth.
Doxtator has seen first-hand the incredible support of the community and is pleased to share the small course with both golf enthusiasts and non-players. “Our ability to continue to grow the game is ten times extensive. Through innovative programming and special events such as placing competitions, junior competitions, mixed and late night competitions, the small course will have something to offer.”
