Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made a request to Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford, who is currently in fantastic form.
Rashford is enjoying life in Spain
After sealing a dream move from United to Barcelona last summer, Rashford has enjoyed an upturn in his fortunes.
He has emerged as one of the club’s best players as they look to defend the La Liga title. Rashford has scored ten goals in 33 games, including three in his last four games. He also provided twelve assists during that period.
Barcelona retain an option to make Rashford’s stay permanent for £26m and are already rumored to be interested in keeping him. Needless to say, Rashford is keen to stay with the Catalan giants.
A report from The Peoples Person stated that interim head coach Michael Carrick would be keen to bring Rashford back if he was given the job on a permanent basis. However, according to The mirrorRashford has no desire to return to United despite the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
It is understood that Rashford has already informed Barcelona of his wish to stay. Furthermore, even if they fail to meet United’s asking price, the Carrington academy graduate would prefer a move to another club to a return to United.
The forward is willing to lower his wage demands and agree to lower employment conditions in a bid to stay at Camp Nou.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Flick stressed that while he is happy with Rashford’s performances, the player can still offer so much more to the team.
Flick’s demand
That’s what the German coach said [as quoted by Barca Blaugranes]”He has much more potential to show. We always look at the goals, the final passes, but as a coach he can give us much more.”
“That’s what I want to see.”
Flick continued: “I’m very happy with him. He gives us what we ask for, but he has more potential. I want everyone to reach the highest level and always get better.”
Rashford and his teammates return to action on Tuesday when they take on Albacete in the Copa del Rey quarter-final.
