House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is tired of the Trump administration’s histrionics and racism, and he’s making his displeasure known.

On February 6, the Democratic House leader made his displeasure known after Trump’s social media team posted a blatantly racist image of President Obama and First Lady Michelle depicted as monkeys.

In a video on X, Jeffries said: “F*** Donald Trump.” In no uncertain terms he condemned what he described as a intentional act of the presidentt to denigrate the former First Family. Jeffries rejected the White House claim that the video was mistakenly shared by an aide. He urged Republican leaders to denounce Trump, whom he called a “serial fraudster” unfit for the presidency.

“This disgusting video posted by the so-called President was deliberately created by Donald Trump and his despicable, racist and evil behavior. This man is an unhinged bottom feeder. President Obama and Michelle Obama are brilliant, caring and patriotic Americans. They represent the best of this country. It is time for John, through Mike Johnson and the Republicans, to expose the serial fraudster sitting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. pretending to be the President of the United States.”

The short but provocative video was posted to Trump’s Truth Social account in late February and remained online for about 12 hours before being removed amid mounting criticism. Axios reported. A White House official later said the clip was accidentally posted by an aide.

The vile images sparked backlash on both sides of the aisle. Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina called it “the most racist thing I have seen in this White House.” Scott, a black Republican who is generally aligned with conservatives, urged Trump to remove the post. Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi also called for the video to be taken down and for an apology.

Democrats, including Jeffries, called the video racist and offensive. The timing of the post, which came during Black History Month, amplified the responses as did the images invoked historically racist tropes. Both Republicans and Democrats said the content was unacceptable, although some Republican lawmakers found a way to absolve Trump of responsibility for the blatant disrespect.

Jeffries’ comments apparently mark a turning point among Democrats who have largely maintained decorum in the face of Republican dog whistles.
