Hadi Chopan’s heavy deadlift training for Mr. Olympia 2025 – Spier and Fitness

Hadi Chopan is preparing for this seventh Mr Olympia final and hopes to replicate the success he had in 2022, when the Iranian powerhouse took first place. And if his recent deadlifting exploits are something to enter into, Choopan will turn out to be a strong competition in a stacked field.

Hadi Chopan came a narrow second during the MR Olympia event 2024 and lost to “the Nigerian Lion” Samson Dauda. Yet last year was not without success. Not only did the ‘Persian wolf’ win the Arnold Classic Stateside, but he also took the victory in Arnold Classic UK. While the big man wants to win his second Sandow trophy with the victory in Las Vegas, he will take on a stiff competition in the form of Dauda, Derek Lunsford, Nick Walker and more. So, to put his best possible package on stage, Choopan has continued his reputation for seriously heavy repetitions and Belt his deadlift.

Why does Hadi Choopan choose Heavy Deadlifts for Olympia Prep?

The deadlift is a compound exercise that works different muscle groups. Initially, the action of driving on the floor activates your lower body and you burden the gluteal muscles, hamstrings and quadriceps while keeping your core tight. While the beam moves to heaven, you work the slats, shoulders and arms to keep the load, and again trust your lower body while the beam descends.

Apart from major health benefits such as training the hip extensors and strengthening the back, deadlifts are also serious mass builders, especially if you become heavy, such as Choopan, who only looks incredible for a few days of the largest bodybuilding event of the year. Deadlifts activate the nervous system and by going heavy, you jump muscle growth through the process of hypotrophy.

In February the inspiring Iranian used the deadlift machine to pick up an amazing 400 kilograms. “It was terribly heavy and difficult because it was the last move and the eighth set, but I did it,” the Bodybuilder shared.

And with less than 30 days to go until the MR Olympia final, Choopan has regularly been back behind the bar. “Hard work,” he noticed after making three repetitions of 260 kilograms. The performance was noticed by seven-time Olympia winner Phil Heath, that “Strong !!!!” wrote under the Instagram video of Chopan. Undoubtedly his competition was also watching!
