The Manchester City forward won back-to-back Golden Boots in his first two seasons at the Etihad and has scored more than 20 goals in three consecutive seasons.
The Norwegian seems ready to become that four-in-a-row, after scoring fourteen goals in the first eleven games this time. His next goal will see Haaland reach a century in the Premier League and, barring an unlikely failure, become the fastest footballer ever to reach that milestone.
City take on Newcastle United tonight and a goal for Haaland will see him break Alan Shearer’s record at goalkeeper Geordie’s former home.
Haaland has scored 99 goals in just 108 appearances in the Premier League and will break Shearer’s record of 124 appearances with 15 games remaining with a goal at St James’ Park.
It would be the latest achievement of a footballer whose achievements are already on par with the greats.
Fewest games needed to score 100 goals in the Premier League:
- Alan Shearer – 124
- Harry Kane – 141
- Sergio Aguero – 147
- Thierry Henry – 160
