Later, Tanvi composed herself to make it 16-14, but the pressure seemed to get the better of her as she gave away four points and Tung took an 18-16 lead.Nevertheless, Tanvi continued to fight and made it 18-20. But in the end, her opponent did just enough to finally get the win when Tanvi made another mistake at the net.
What do you think is the biggest challenge Tanvi will face in the finale?
Earlier in the day, Sanskar Saraswat upset the experienced Mithun Manjunath to clinch the men’s singles title at the National Center of Excellence. Sanskar defeated experienced Mithun Manjunath 21-11, 17-21, 21-13 in an all-Indian men’s final. This was Saraswat’s first win in the BWF Super 100 and he would be happy with the way he played against Manjunath, who reached the semi-finals of Syed Modi International last month.Although Saraswat lost the second game, he completely dominated the first and third games and took victory in 50 minutes. In fact, in the third game he took an early 7-0 lead to set the tone and never looked back.Though the youngster from Rajasthan played at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, he had shifted base to Guwahati at the National Center of Excellence since last year and had upset Syed Modi Open champion Jason Gunawan in the second round.Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Indian duo Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek K also finished second after losing 13-21, 18-21 to Malaysians Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai.The mixed doubles title went to second-seeded Indonesian duo Marwan Faza and Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata, while the duo of Isyana Syahira Meida and Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine, also from Indonesia, took the women’s doubles crown.
