Guerrero Jr., Clement’s first pair of teammates to each have 25 hits in a single postseason
It was a postseason to remember for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement, two of the Toronto Blue Jays’ brightest stars during this magical run to the World Series.
Clement was remarkable in his own right, hitting .391/.397/.531 with six extra base hits – including one home run – and a 157 wRC+ in the club’s 16 postseason games.
Together, Guerrero and Clement have become the first team-mate duo in MLB history to each record 25 hits during a single playoff run, combining for 52 and accounting for nearly a third of Toronto’s 168 hits — which leads all postseason teams this month.
Guerrero, who has 27 hits in the MLB so far, was the first to cross the 25-hit threshold in these playoffs. He is also the first hitter ever to produce at least 25 hits, eight home runs and 15 RBIs in a single post-season.
With up to two games remaining in this year’s Fall Classic, Toronto’s favorite duo will likely end up as the only hitters to record at least 25 hits this postseason. The next closest are Addison Barger and former Blue Jay Teoscar Hernández, who both rank third in this category with 18 apiece.
After winning two of three at Dodger Stadium, the Blue Jays return home for Friday’s Game 6 and have two chances to dethrone the reigning champions in an effort to capture their first World Series title in more than three decades.
