New Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai: Car and two-wheelers Retailers are set at a record party this year and ranging by the first day sales of the Navratri festival that also coincides with the role of the Reduced Goods and Services (GST) rates.

Leading car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp, who have sweetened the GST benefits with their own price stimidates for customers, see a strong demand praction, said dealers and business leaders.

Vehicle deliveries planned on Monday at most dealers and visited in Delhi, Gurugram and Mumbai are 3-5 times higher than normal.

More than 150 deliveries are planned five times more than the daily Average Across Three Maruti Suzuki Arena sales points of Pasco Group in Gurugram on the first day of Novratri. “The GST section has been a big boost,” says Sanjay Passi, chairman, Pasco Group. “We see a huge demand for small cars.”

Various potential buyers were seen in Navi Mumbai who visited a Maruti Arena Outlet. “We focus on 40 bookings today on a normal day and double the Navratri from last year,” said the sale of the dealer.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki said that the response from customers has been phenomenally expected to sell 30,000 cars on Monday itself. He said that since September 18, Maruti insured 75,000 bookings when it had announced extra price stimidatives beyond the GST cutbacks, with nearly 15,000 bookings of daily hevators 50% higher than normal. “The demand for small cars has mainly been strong, with bookings that grow by almost 50%,” he said.

In particular, SUVs continued to rule the bookings of customers, although demand has risen in the spectrum of the passenger vehicle.

A Kia India dealer in South Mumbai said it expected an increase in the festive sale of 10-12% in the run-up to Diwali.

Tarun Garg, Director and Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor India all the time, said that the company has registered around 11,000 dealer Billings, the highest performance in one day in the past five years. “This is a clear proof of the robust festive sentiment and the trust of customers,” he said.

Tata Motors is also confronted with a similar experience. “The GST rates and festive offers have led to a strong increase in questions and bookings, with Nexon and Punch that saw a strong traction,” said Amit Kamat, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. “We are witnessed by higher showroom walk-ins and conversions and expect record activity this season.”

In Chennai, a Hyundai dealer reported a jump of 50% in bookings, while a Maruti Suzuki showroom has been clocking orders since the weekend. “We only had 12 bookings in our showroom on Saturday because we had an honest idea of how much the reduction would lower the prices,” said V Dinesh, team leader at the Maruti Suzuki showroom in the T Nagar place of Chennai.

The two -wheeler segment also sees a robust demand.

Sudhar Mehta, General Manager (Sales) at Globe Enterprises, which has 30 points of sale of Hero Motocorp in Gurugram, said that the company expected on Monday itself from 1,000-1.200 motorcycles.

“We usually do 10 units per outlet per day. But this time we see a 4x jump,” said Mehta. “Usually, for two -wheelers, customers do not make bookings. They come in with cash and drive on a motorcycle. Nowadays the prices are in the same range as mobile phones.”

The question remains robust, even at the Premium End of the Market with Lamba Enterprises, one of the largest dealers for Royal Enfield Motorcycles in Delhi, who deliver 180 motorcycles on Monday, almost double the 100 units that were delivered per day during festive periods during festive periods.

“We usually do around 300 deliveries per month with this outlet. But this time with the GST reduction, prices have fallen by 14,000-15,000. We see a huge peak in question,” said a senior executive at Lamba Enfield.
