John and Lynne Street of Lincoln Farms joined Green in racing the filly, who was initially trained by Green’s husband Ray for her first eight starts before Nathan Delany joined him.
Debbie Lincoln won four races for the South Auckland shed before she was bought privately earlier this year.
She finished second in the Group Two Garrards Premier Mares Championship (1980m) before scoring her career-defining victory in the Group One NZ Breeders’ Stakes (2600m) at Addington Raceway last Friday evening.
From her outside draw on the front row, driver Kimberley Butt was positive on the arm, sending Debbie Lincoln to the front to take the lead heading into the first corner. They set the pace for the rest of the first lap before giving up the top Arafura (NZ) (Sweet Lou) rang the bell, while Debbie Lincoln was able to settle on the course in the last lap.
Butt bided her time and was able to take full advantage of the passing lane as she turned for home, with Debbie Lincoln darting in to score a 1ÂĽ length victory.
“It’s just amazing,” Butt said.
“I was happy to stay at the front, but she got too excited, so I thought I would give up and hope she would relax on his helmet, and to her credit, she did. Being able to relax probably made the difference in getting Arafura on the track.”
The daughter of Lather Up has now won six and placed in nine of her 29 starts to date, earning just under $170,000 in prize money.
Lather Up will offer two yearlings at Karaka in Woodlands Stud’s draft in Lot 4 And Lot 109while Pace Makers will offer one Lot 65.
