While autumn arrives in full force, nothing goes beyond a thriller littered with stars to make it cozy in the evening.

That is exactly what you sign up for with the latest addition of Netflix to their repertoire – Zoe Saldana’s Special Ops: Lioness, a espionage thriller full of an extra punch.

The Avatar actor plays the leading role as Joe McNamara, a CIA agent ‘who juggles motherhood with her job that leads an undercover unit on risky missions while sending her new marine recruit on the field’.

First broadcast in 2023, the series is from the brain behind hit shows such as Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan, and has huge names in the industry, including Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

The series also plays Laysla de Oliveira, Jill Wagner and Dave Annable, who plays Joe’s husband, Neal.

There is no doubt that the show with a high Octane has proven a hit with viewers who have praised it for his unique way in a military drama.

Critics have also had glowing words to share with Yahoo!, Mentioning a ‘slow fire schedules’, Thewrap called it ‘well-made’ and Empire praised Sheridan for ‘mixing explosive spy action with domestic issues to mainly absorbent effect.’

Although there has been some criticism of the series, where CNN calls it ‘as basic as it’, Financial Times labels the ‘cliché-stabbed’ and Hollywood Reporter who describes it as ‘ease’, so you have to look to decide.

In an interview with TermThe Guardians of the Galaxy actor – who also acts as a producer in the show – shared why her character is so tailored to the woman she likes to portray on the screen.

“They don’t fight men to fight against men. Her big battle is not to avoid men.

“And I love the fact that Taylor Sheridan did not let these women waste time by always constantly puting men in place and he also did not create one -dimensional male roles around these women.”
