Oscar Health and the Supermarket and Apotheek chain Hy-Lea launch a new health insurance plan in the Des Moines area that they are planning to go to several states and companies.

The new health insurance plan, “Hy-Lea Health With Oscar”, is part of a coming wave of health benefit offerings that are known as Individual coverage for health feesOr Ichras. Such plans concern employers who pay their employees a fixed amount every month to buy health insurance themselves through a carrier, broker or government exchange.

In this case, employers and employees can buy the HY-Lea/Oscar plan via the Federal Exchange that was founded under the Affordable Care Act or through their employer or an ICHRA website such as Benefit.

“Finding the right coverage in health care should be just as simple as buying milk from Hy-cattle,” said Oscar Chief Executive Officer Mark Bertolini about the popular supermarket chain, which has hundreds of pharmacies, in the store health and nutrition services in a region with nine states.

Oscar is perhaps best known as one of the providers of individual coverage of the nation under the ACA that is known as Obamacare, but makes a large gamble together with rivals, including Centene, Cigna and others who also sell Ichra plans.

The HY-cattle/Oscar plan is available for 400,000 HY-cattle employees in Greater des Mines via their employer on the individual market from 1 November 2025, the start of open registration for individual plans under the ACA, also known as Obamacare, for coverage from January 1, 2026.

The relationship between Oscar and Hy-cattle includes “$ 0 care with Hy-Lea Health Exemplar Care Clinics,” the companies said. “No cheap direct first -line care of the same doctor on every visit, 24/7 urgent and virtual care, laboratory tests, medicines and more. This service normally sells for $ 2,400 for a family of four a year.”

This new type of plan is an alternative to offering a traditional group health plan to employees. “It is a specific account-based health plan with which employers are able to provide defined non-tax compensations to employees for qualified medical costs, including monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs, such as copayments and deductible risks,” says the Federal Government on its Healthcare.GOV webite.

“We are the future of health care for consumers and employers,” said Bertolini. “Everyone deserves healthcare that is affordable, convenient and simple. Our partnership reflects the innovation that we send on the individual market to exceed expectations throughout the country.”

Ultimately, Hy-Lea and Oscar will offer the plan to more companies and their employees outside the supermarket and apotheek chain and beyond the Greater des Moines area to the entire state of Iowa followed by the Eight other states Where Hy-Leaf locations and employees have. Those states are: Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

“Hy-cattle has a history of making lives easier, healthier and happier,” said Hy-cattle President Aaron Wiese. “We take that dedication at the next level with Oscar. Together our teams make health care for every person, lifestyle and budget. We are proud to offer affordable benefits to the des Moines Business Community, with plans to expand in Iowa and other states over time.”
