The French doctor Bapiste Andre was on ‘Freedom Flotilla’ with Greta Thunberg – he said the group was subject to ‘spot’ when they were intercepted by Israeli officials
An activist on the boat ‘Freedom Flotilla’ with Greta Thunberg said that the latter was mistreated by Israeli officials. There were “deeds of abuse” according to Baptiste Andre, who spoke with French media after the 12 12 group was brought to the port of Ashdod.
Mr Andre, a doctor, said that there were “no acts of physical violence”, but that they were subject to lack of sleep and “spot” by Israeli officials. He said that this was “especially” aimed at Mrs. Thunberg. “As soon as [Thunberg] Fell asleep, the immigration services came to wake her up, “he claimed, adding that music was loud and members of the immigration services” danced for us “.
Add that there was some effort for the prisoners to gain access to food, water and toilets, Andre said: “It took three hours to get a piece of bread.”
On X, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The passengers of the ‘Selfiejacht’ arrived at Ben Gurion Airport to leave Israel and return to their home country.
Spokesperson for the Israeli government David Mencer said that Thunberg was a party to “Instagram activism”. Israeli officials have received criticism after they have called the group anti -Semitic in the midst of their attempts to bring food to people in Gaza. The UN has warned that the population of Gaza is at risk of famine.
Mrs. Thunberg was one of the 12 passengers on the Madleen, a ship with help to Gaza. Israeli naval groups grabbed the boat without an incident early on Monday about 125 miles off the coast of Gaza, according to the coalition, which together with rights groups said that the actions of Israel were a violation of international law.
Israel rejects that indictment because it says that such ships are planning to violate what it claims is a legal naval block of Gaza.
Speaking on arrival at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, Mrs. Thunberg called for the release of the other activists who were held on board the Freedom Flotilla. She described a “fairly chaotic and uncertain” situation during detention.
The activist added the circumstances with which they were confronted “are absolutely nothing compared to what people go through in Palestine and especially Gaza at the moment”.
“We were well aware of the risks of this mission,” Mrs Thunberg added. “The goal was to come to Gaza and to distribute the help.” She said the activists would continue to try to get help to Gaza.
