Greg Norman steps after four years from Liv Golf, Eyes Next Chapter

The term of office of Greg Norman with Liv Golf is officially over.

The 69-year-old golf icon announced his departure on Instagram and closed a four-year run with the competition. Norman served as CEO for three years, played a crucial role in launching Liv Golf and establishing as a disturbing force in professional wave. In the past year he worked more behind the scenes when the new CEO Scott O’Neil led the competition in a new phase with a renewed schedule, extensive sponsor portfolio and a new television deal.

Under the leadership of Norman, Liv Golf added a 13th team, increased the schedule from 48 to 54 players and expanded worldwide with stops in cities such as Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore. His efforts pushed wallets over the sport to new heights, forcing the PGA Tour to collect prize money in response.

Norman’s time at the helm, however, was not without controversy. His outspoken defense of the competition, frequent collisions with Golf’s establishment and bold statements about Liv’s process often caused a recoil. Yet he leaves a competition that continues to grow under the steward of O’Neil, even if the uncertainty around his long -term direction lingers and the collapse of proposed deals with the PGA Tour.

Norman hinted at new companies on the horizon, but does not yet have to reveal details. For now his chapter with Liv Golf is closed and the competition is moving forward without its original architect.
