Good players are still available

You may have landed here to think that I would talk about non -signing NHL and AHL players who could help professional team schedules. Although it is true that there are still good players available at that level those free agents, that is not the point of this article. Instead, we have all heard the news and saw that the TOP CHL players choose to go south to the NCAA where they can get a year or two training, which can earn money with zero deals and in their cheerful ways to have NHL camps. What should be noted is that there are many children playing in the CHL who are very good, but perhaps not the blue chip, selection of the first round for teams, but either have not been prepared later or simply developed later than some of their colleagues. This is where you should look for their next stars, because they can elevate players programs well if they gave a shot to go to university.

This idea falls under the file “We should do that”, but it is not a piece to suggest that coaching staff for the hockey programs for you is considerably under the tasks needed to lead a program while they are very under -financed to hire good people who can pick up the play. The same can be said for you Sports Women’s Programs, but they are less confronted for their sources of players that go to the US from junior programs.

The goalkeeper shown above, Marcus Vandenberg of the Sudbury Wolves, recently dedicated to the Huskies of Saint Mary Program in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Vandenberg is not one of those goalkeepers who come in and change the dynamics of the AUS, but he is good enough to stop pucks for the huskies as determined by their staff. Based on his OHL numbers that were never under a 3.00 gaa and never above a .900 savings percentage, one can wonder why the Husky’s Vandenberg would recruit, but it is not always about the figures for schools.

Vandenberg was one Hockey gives blood ambassador During his time with the Niagara Ice Dogs, and that is one big thing in your sports circles. Being good members of the community is something that both the CHL and the U -sports teams share, so getting a man who already understands and promotes this effort is a good look for the University of Saint Mary.

It should also be noted that Vandenberg the Ojhl’s goalkeeper of the year Last season with the Leamerton Flyers where he was 31-4-2 with a 1.48 GAA, a .946 savings percentage and six shutouts. No other OJHL -target defender won thirty victories last season, so it is clear that Vandenberg was in its own class. Yes, his OHL figures were not that impressive, but there is a considerable talent gap between the OHL and the Ojhl. Finding a good goalkeeper still means finding talent.

I have mentioned it several times on this blog, but not everyone’s hockeypad is clear. Some are winding roads that players take a step back before they can move forward. Others seem to move laterally before the path goes ahead. In the case of Vandenberg, he gets his chance to show the aus what he can do while he is looking for the steps of Logan Thompson or Matt Greenfield. Both goalkeepers played your sports hockey and they had exceptional hockey career after finding their games with hockey programs at Canadian universities. Their paths were different.

This can be said for many players who come to the Canadian universities, but many of them go and have a successful hockey career. The key, however, is that summer is already in August, so now I would be the time that I would make a big push for players I tried to recruit, but still not be sure of the school aspect. There are still many good players who are not sure of their future, but who understand the community aspect of playing university hockey and who have the talents to fit into a hockey program.

Now that the hockey world is changing into terms of where players can play, you should become Sports more a factor for players who want to play hockey at a high level while they receive training. It will not be a one -year stop for players like Gavin McKenna, but boys like Marcus Vandenberg can get his diploma, play hockey well and still watch the professional ranks when he is ready at the University of Saint Mary. It is not a normal hockey path, but he walks it.

And with the Husky’s that organize the U Cup National Championship in 2026, Vandenberg participates in the program at the right time!

Until next time, keep your sticks on the ice!
