Golf Hall of Famers Els, Montgomerie undertakes to Rogers Charity Classic

A few Hall of Famers are on their way to Calgary – together with a donation of $ 1 million.

Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie have been added to the Rogers Charity Classic, the only Canadian stop on the Champions Tour.

In the meantime, Rogers announced that it donates $ 1 million to support the charities of children in Alberta.

“Every year the Rogers Charity Classic has a monumental impact on communities, families and children in Alberta,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer of Rogers. “We are proud of bringing this locally renowned event to life and to continue to support the charities of children in Alberta.”

The tournament, which runs from 15-17 August, comes from a record setting 2024 event that $ 25.4 million collected for Rogers Birdies for children presented by Altalink.

The Rogers Charity Classic has raised $ 137.7 million since its foundation and will link up to 50 percent of the donations to the participating charities until August.

“Our goal from the first day before the Rogers Charity Classic was to bring a family -friendly professional sporting event to Calgary to support the many incredible charities for children in our community,” said Jim Riddell tournament goal.

“Rogers has set the way to help us achieve that goal and this generous donation is further evidence that we are all dedicated to build on our legacy of giving.”

Els, a former world no. 1 and a four -time big winner, will take at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club for the second consecutive year.

He ended in a draw for 10th in 2024.

The Montgomerie van Scotland became second in his first performance at the 2015 event and finished sixth in 2016.

The captain of the Ryder Cup-winning European team in 2010 is looking for his eighth Champions Tour title and only since 2019.

Four big champions – Vijay Singh, David Toms, Darren Clarke and David Duval – have already committed themselves to the tournament, next to the Canadians Mike Weir and Stephen Ames.
