Gofundme launched for injured Jock Carol Cedeno * The Racing Biz

A GoFundMe campaign was created by Megan Dero Halter to support Jockey Carol Cedeno, who was serious injury on Saturday 27 September 2025 in a race accident in Monmouth in the Meadowlands.

Cedeno was thrown on the floor when her mountain, Micro Brewsky, stumbled during the fourth race of the evening, and in the chaos that followed, she was trampled by two other horses. The impact left her with a shattered and disrupted wrist and five broken vertebrae after another horse had hit her. Micro Brewsky was weaked.

Cedeno stays in the hospital and is waiting for an operation to repair its wrist.

Cedeno was born in Puerto Rico and has been a fixture since 2007 in the Mid-Atlantic Rijkolony. She has earned several riding titles in Delaware Park, where she is admired for her grit, professionalism and perseverance. Cedeno has won more than 1,300 races in her career and her mounts have earned more than $ 35 million in wallet money.

Outside racing, she is a dedicated mother of two and a beloved friend for many in the community. She is mainly near Halter’s autistic son Matt, a racer who calls herself the ‘president’ of the fan club of Cedeno.

“Carol is for us as a family, and we want to support her through this difficult time,” Halter wrote on the campaign page and noticed on the band of Cedeno with Matt. Even from her hospital bed, Cedeno smiled to reassure Matt that she was good.

Fundraising wants to offer relief for medical costs, lost income and family support during what is expected to be a long and difficult recovery.

The Cedeno family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of concern in a message on the campaign:

“Thanks to all those who are aware of Carol’s situation, every grain of sand that they can contribute to will help us share to reach more people. Thanks again.”

From Monday morning the effort collected $ 3,100 of a hoped $ 50,000. The GoFundMe page emphasizes that every contribution goes directly to Cedeno and will help her concentrate on healing, knowing that she is supported by her community.
