To quantify which communities are most likely to support micrusinesses, Godaddy Small Business Research Lab (formerly Enterprise Vooruit) conducted a study to identify the most entrepreneurial cities in the United States.
Some results can be surprising. Others, not so much. But the study shows an entrepreneurial spirit that blooms throughout the nation.
Let’s look at the top 10 of most entrepreneurial cities in the US from 2025.
A word about the research method
The analysis measures on an annual basis on an annual basis of the number of microBUSSiness from the first to the fourth quarter of 2024.
Godaddy Small Business Research Lab defines a micrusiness as a unique domain name and an active website, and employs fewer than 10 people.

From the hippies from Haight-Sashbury to Dot-Com Miracles, San Francisco has long been an incubator for creativity and inspiration. And today the population of 851,036 is a brilliant palette of different cultures and perspectives.
It is clear in the top position of the city on the Lab list of Godaddy Small Business Research Lab, with 173,054 MicroBusinesses last year – a jump of 122% for a total of 314,788 MicroBusinesses that are active by the bay in the city.

The city is an example of cities in California that show considerable growth, despite high costs and other economic challenges.
2. Los Angeles, Ca
Take a walk through a beach in Los Angeles on a sunny, honest day, and it is easy to consider becoming a member of the 2,406,666 Angelinos who lives here today. Not to mention the wide range of museums, parks and other attractions that you will find in the city of Angels.

The Mile-High City is an example of an emerging stronghold for business growth, with 63,010 Micrusiness representing an increase of 56% for a total of 176,426 towards the end of 2024.
4. Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma City has traditionally called up statues of cowboys, oil sources and endless air. But today it wins a reputation as a place for micrusinesses – which stem from the shadows of larger hubs such as San Francisco or Los Angeles.

While Big Business and State Politics remain focal points among the 693,083 inhabitants here, recent data tell the story of a growing entrepreneurial spirit.
Towards the end of 2024, OK City saw an increase of 21% in micrusinesses, with 11,180 for a total of 65,216.
5. Frankft, the
With its proximity of Chicago matched by a charming, small urban atmosphere, it is no wonder that many of the 32,596 inhabitants of Frankfort say that this is the best place to live in Illinois. The city is also an unexpected but growing hub for entrepreneurs.
Last year Frankfort added 10,370 MicroBusiness, which represents an increase of 16%, for a total of 73,805.
6. Ontario, Ca
Ontario is often called the ‘gateway to South California’, with its international airport and easy access to LA and all its attractions. The 180.138 inhabitants of the city enjoy the proximity of Palm Springs, Disneyland and other destinations.
Ontario is another example of California’s profession on entrepreneurs despite some economic challenges – almost doubled his micrusiness in 2024, with 9,789 for a total of 19,592.
7. Wilmington, the

Wilmington, North Carolina, located on the Cape Fear River, with the USS North Carolina that is anchored as a museum ship, Wilmington, North Carolina is another emerging hotspot for entrepreneurial growth.
Wilmington added 6,734 microBUSHUSICES in 2024, which represents an increase of 36% with a total of 25,644.
The city is home to 208,911 inhabitants and known as a starting point for tourism, with easy access to Cape Fear beaches and their rolling promenades.
9. Katy, TX
Katy is located just west of Houston and offers its 380,986 inhabitants in a small city with the proximity of large cities.
Attractions include a restored railway depot, baseball games in Katy Park and fishing in Mary Jo Peckham Park.
The city saw an increase of 12% in MicroBusinesses in 2024 and added 6,660 for a total of 62,560.
10. Alameda, Ca
Alameda is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, a former hub for the American navy and now an example of a city in California that defies the economic difficulty to support the growth of entrepreneurs.
The 77,565 inhabitants of Alameda enjoy all the entertainment and culture of nearby Oakland and San Francisco, but return to a clearly quieter environment.
In 2024, Alameda saw an increase of 83% in micrusinesses, with 6,300 for a total of 13,861.
