Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave as a free agent if a move does not take place this month. The England international has turned down a new contract at Selhurst Park and is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Liverpool agreed a fee of £35 million to sign Guehi in the summer, but the deal collapsed on deadline day after Crystal Palace failed to sign a replacement.
The Reds remain interested in signing the 25-year-old, while Manchester City are keen to complete a deal to sign the centre-back this month due to the club’s defensive injuries.
Ahead of Crystal Palace’s clash with Aston Villa tonight, Glasner said he is not ‘naive’ to the situation. The Austrian admitted that Palace will sell the club captain if the finances make sense.
“There is the situation that the contract expires in the summer. If someone comes, there will come a time when the club says: ‘Now the financial issue is more important than the sports issue.’ We have to do it and try to get the best out of it. That’s why I always say, “I don’t know.” Because this is different.”
“There will be a threshold where the club has a say [sell] … If the player says, ‘I want to leave’ and the money is above the threshold, that’s what happens. “I’m not so naive as not knowing that if a huge offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen.”
