GIFT Handy lower 50 points; here is the trading setup for today’s session

Nifty ended marginally lower on Wednesday as gains were made in select sectors. Analysts expect Indian stocks to trade in a narrow range this week amid lack of triggers and reduced trading activity due to holidays in several global markets.STATE OF THE MARKETS
GIFT Nifty (earlier SGX Nifty) signals a negative start
GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX was trading 46.50 points, or 0.18 percent, lower at 26,130.50, indicating that Dalal Street was heading for a negative start on Friday.

  • Technical representation: The support base has now shifted towards 26,000, which also coincides with the 21-DMA, while upside potential remains open towards the 26,300 level. Moreover, the India VIX is hovering near its all-time low around 9.40, providing reassurance to the prevailing bullish sentiment.
  • India VIX: India’s VIX, a measure of market fear, fell 2% to 9.19.

Asian stocks gain
Asian shares rose in thin trading on Friday after Japanese and South Korean shares rose, while many regional markets remained closed for holidays. Silver climbed to a record and gold neared its all-time high.

  • Futures on the S&P 500 were little changed at 9:29 a.m. Tokyo time
  • Japan’s Topix rose 0.3%

Oil rises
Oil prices rose on Friday after the United States ordered greater economic pressure on Venezuelan oil shipments at the request of the Nigerian government and carried out airstrikes on Islamic State militants in northwestern Nigeria.
