Georges Niang’s wait for his seasonal debut will continue.
The Jazz said in a news release that the veteran forward is still in his rehabilitation process and will remain out for at least two more weeks, after which he will be re-evaluated.
While the team noted that Niang is making progress, he is not close to returning to game action.
The injury dates back more than 11 weeks ago, when Utah first revealed that Niang suffered a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot during offseason workouts.
Since then, the Jazz have consistently described his recovery as a step in the right direction, but without a clear timeline, leaving him sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Niang, a former second-round pick in 2016, has built a reputation around the league as a reliable floor spacer.
Over his career, he has knocked down nearly 40 percent of his three-point attempts, and last season he averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 79 games split between Cleveland and Atlanta while shooting efficiently from all levels.
After being transferred from Atlanta to Boston in July, Niang was rerouted to Utah in August as part of a salary settlement.
He is playing on an expiring contract that will pay him $8.2 million in 2025-26, making his health and potential return a major factor for both Niang and the Jazz.
