General Meeting endorses New York’s statement on two -state solution between Israel and Palestine

The New York statement is the outcome of an international conference held at the UN Head Quarter in July, organized by France and Saudi Arabia, which will resume later this month.

The general meeting consists of all 193 UN Member States and 142 countries voted for a resolution Support the document.

Israel voted against it, in addition to nine other countries – Argentina, Hungary, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua – New – Guinea, Paraguay, Tonga and the United States – while 12 nations deserved themselves.

‘Roadmap’ for the future

Prior to the vote, the French ambassador Jérôme Bonnaafont reminded that the New York statement “explains a single roadmap to deliver the two -state solution”.

Prior to the vote, the Israeli ambassador Danon said that “this one -sided explanation will not be remembered as a step towards peace, only as another hollow gesture that weakens the credibility of this meeting.”

He said that “Hamas is the biggest winner of every approval here today” and will explain “the fruit of October 7”.

The high -level international conference in July was held against the background of the war in Gaza and deteriorated prospects for the two -state solution.
