The house of Gene Hackman was in disorder when he died, covered with loose items and food while he was infected with rats, creating a breeding ground for the deadly virus that his wife killed.
Shocking new photos and videos from the new house of the couple of the couple see the disorder inside when the police found the couple dead.
Officers found Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog on 26 February. Arakawa died of HantaVirus stulmonary syndrome, while Hackman only survived a week before he died on 18 February of heart disease complicated by Alzheimer’s. Their dog, Zinnia, probably died of dehydration and hunger.
While the officers walked around the Oscar winner’s house, their body cameras conquered clothing, bags and other different items high on the floor, chairs and worksheets. The bathroom was chaotic, with items that were littered over the vanity, while loose food on the countertop had been left behind.
The images shows the police who enter the house and discover the body of Arakawa near a bathroom, while the body of Zinnia was cracked. There were also two surviving dogs, and an officer noted that there was a layman to “guard her” and seemed “pretty friendly”.
The police then found the body of Gene in the mud room of the estate.
Authorities also found dead rats, rat droppings and nests in the eight buildings that form their estate, making their house a potential breeding ground for Hantavirus.
Hantavirus can only be spread to people by animals, not from person to person. Victims catch the virus of contact with rats urine, droppings and saliva. The virus is rare, with only 864 cases reported in the US from 1993 to 2022, according to the Centers for disease control and prevention.
Researcher’s review of her computer showed that Arakawa was looking for medical disorders with regard to COVID-19 and the flu between 8 February and the morning of 12 February, including whether COVID-19 could cause dizziness or nose bleeding.
Arakawa then searched for a medical service for concierge on 12 February. She called a local service and spoke 2 minutes on the phone. She missed a return later that afternoon.
Arakawa was last seen on 11 February. Hackman is supposed to have died a week later.
A few maintenance workers found the bodies only 26 February and called the police. The couple told the officers that they had not seen the homeowners in about two weeks. Despite the fame of the pair, they chose to throw away the bright lights of Hollywood, instead lived in the messy house in New Mexico.
The deaths were not initially suspected that they brought false play, but were then determined ‘suspicious’ and the investigations continued.
The police found Arakawa in the vicinity of and open pil bottle and spacecraft. She theoretized that she may have fallen and suddenly hit the floor. Arakawa’s body “showed clear signs of death, body decomposition, bloated in her face and mummification in both hands and feet,” said a police discharge.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza later told the media that there were no signs of a fight and that the couple had no external trauma.

Since he withdrew in 2004, Hackman had been open about his health struggle and revealed in 2009 that his doctor wanted him to leave Hollywood because of the stress on his heart.
Hackman told Empire: “The drop that broke the back of the camel was actually a stress test that I did in New York. The doctor advised me that my heart was not in the kind of shape that I should put it under stress.”
