Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed what he hears behind the scenes about Ruben Amorim amid the club’s dramatic revival.
United construction momentum
United made it three straight wins in the Premier League on Saturday by beating Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
A double from Bryan Mbeumo and strikes from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro were enough as United secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over the Seagulls.
United currently sit sixth in the table, level with Manchester City in fifth and six points behind table leaders Arsenal.
After a patchy start to the 2025/26 season, United now appear to have turned a corner and are slowly building momentum under Amorim.
A few weeks ago, Amorim was under enormous pressure and there were even suggestions that his job was at stake. All of that has seemingly been forgotten as United attempt to produce a continued string of positive results and performances.
Earlier this month, Marcel delivered a scathing assessment of Amorim, admitting that media criticism was affecting him and his players.
Now Marcel has delivered a new verdict on the Portuguese coach, revealing what he hears about his improved fortunes.
Neville makes Amorim revelation
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast [as quoted by The Standard]Neville commented: “As a matter of fact, we’re only a week or so away from when I thought the manager was under pressure, so we’ve got to be very careful here.”
“We can be there again in a few weeks, it’s that kind of season, that kind of feeling.”
“And I hear this: a few weeks ago I was worried about the players getting into the system and the way of playing, and I really was. But what I never worried about was [Amorim] lose the locker room. No, that never happened at Amorim.”
The former England international continued: “The players like him a lot, they like him a lot… The players like him a lot and want to do well for him, and I think that has become clear in the last week.”
“It’s been a really good week for United, Amorim’s best week in the job, his most important week in the job. It’s been a big, big, big period for Amorim. He’s put himself back on track. People are just starting to think, ‘OK, something could happen for him here.'”
United are back in action on Saturday when they face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
