Gang held for stealing diesel of trucks, police vehicles in Vellore

A gang of four members was arrested by the police of Veppamkuppam for stealing diesel of parked trucks, trucks and police vehicles at various places in Vellore on Sunday.

The police said that the arrested persons were identified as S. Ilavarasan (21), E. Rajesh (26), M. Ajith (25) and R. Rajesh (25). They are residents of the Odugathur area in Vellore. They are childhood friends and were school decay. About 250 liters of diesel in 18 barrels, 15 empty barrels and a two -wheeler were also seized from the gang.

The first investigation showed that the district police have regularly received complaints about diesel thefts of vehicles parked on arterial documents in the district in recent weeks. Apart from fuel, spare parts including batteries and spare wheels in vehicles were also stolen.

Special teams

Based on orders from A. Mayilvaganan, Chief Police Inspector (SP), Vellore, special teams were formed to patrol suspected places at night. During the patrol, a police team found suspected Ilavarasan in the vicinity of a truck waiting. When he was questioned by the police, he gave conflicting answers.

After investigation, Illavarasan told the police that they are aimed at trucks and trucks parked on arterial pieces, because these vehicles contain a large volume of fuel in it. The gang also steals fuel from parked school and police vehicles in less busy areas at night. They sell stolen fuel in the black market in the neighboring districts Tiruvannamalai and Tirupattur.

The police said that Illavarasan also told them about three other gang members who were involved in the theft in the district for the past two years. The police put a fall on by letting Illavarasan tell his gang members that Diesel was stolen from a few vehicles. The gang members arrived at the place where they were completed by the police.

A case was registered by the police of Veppamkuppam. They were all housed in the central prison in Vellore. A probe is underway.
