Meet the opponent

The second of two group of 5 non-conference opponents, Kennesaw State, will come to Bloomington fresh from a loss of one point at Wake Forest.

The owls had, at the back 10-9 with less than five minutes on the clock, but went four and finally fell to the demon deacons.

The Quarterback of Kennesaw State will be a familiar face for Indiana fans. Dexter Williams II (photo) spent four years in Bloomington, starting in two of his four performances. His most striking match like a Hoosier was an exciting overtime victory against Michigan State in November 2022.

During his press conference on Monday, Cignetti emphasized the fast attack of KSU, similar to that of Old Dominion.

The tilt on Saturday afternoon between De Hoosiers and Owls is the first meeting between the two programs. For Kennesaw State it will be the first confrontation with a Big Ten program in its history.

Update injury

Cignetti announced two injury updates during his Monday press conference.

Redshirt Senior Safety Bryson Bonds will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Freshman Defensive Back Byron Baldwin is ‘daily’, says Cignetti.

The required BIG ten -Availability report is released two hours before the kick -off, at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Storylines

Can Indiana still avoid a slow start?

Last week the Pregame Pomp and the circumstances made way for the first defensive ride of the season for Indiana.

The drive lasted only one game; A 75-Yard old Dominion Touchdown Bewooned Indiana. In the next disk, the attack put together a good ride, but could not respond with points.

The defense eventually discovered it, but the slow start frustrated Cignetti.

Although it is a different non-conference opponent, Indiana has to shake the slow start when the game of the conference starts to get closer. It all starts with the start of Saturday against Kennesaw State.

Will the problems with the red zone be solved?

Cal Transfer Quarterback Fernando Mendoza and the Indiana attack marched the field to the old Dominion One-Yard line, but were filled with four straight plays.

It was just the start for the target of Indiana.

De Hoosiers made six trips to the red zone and scored a touchdown in just two. The other four: two field goals and a few turnover on Downs.

With his miscues, Indiana scored only 20 of the possible 42 points in its six discs.

Cignetti was dissatisfied with the offensive game plan for the red zone. As expected for week 1, the Hoosiers had a vanilla attack, which did not reach deep in the playbook for the opener.

Looking for a Get-Right version, Indiana can open his playbook to bend his muscle against KSU.

How important is a comfortable victory?

Indiana was punished in both polls after beating Old Dominion with 13 points. The Hoosiers dropped two places in the poll and three in the AP poll.

Winning will not be enough for voters, especially after a low season of planning interviews. Indiana made his name for his victory margin last year despite his weak schedule.

With an even weaker opponent who enters the city in the state of Kennesaw, it will be important for the Cignetti team to have a dominant performance from start to finish.

Prospect

The regular season opener resulted in a victory, but with higher expectations, winning multiple scores is paramount. Indiana continues to be examined, especially with scary victories in the non-conference.

There will be a talent difference between the two teams on Saturday. Indiana, however, must come up with energy and announce its presence of the opening kick.

Cignetti has again focused his team after an overwhelming week 1 performance. This week will not really be a game. Expect the Hoosiers to jump over the owls and win convincingly.
