The Golf Association of Michigan’s Boys Championship is underway Washtenaw Golf Club.

This is the second year of the championship and the second year organized in Washtenaw.

Earlier this season, Washtenaw organized the Gam Girls Championship.

The Gam Girls Championship and the Gam Boys Championship are the successors of the old Gam Junior Kickoff, with its mixed field and spring planning. However, that tournament had the disadvantage of possible conflicts with the athletic schedule of Michigan High School, which is planning the season of the boys in the spring.

That Washtenaw has set aside four days of the season for Juniors matches to the dedication to grow the game of owners Dave Kendall, Nick Ma and Steve Davis. A compliment for PGA Pro Zach SzaWara, Chief Inspector Mark Pappas, general manager Tim Czeriawski and the rest of the staff who work hard to make the experience a great one for the children.

Washtenaw has a long history of hosting championships, including the Michigan Amateur from 1927 and the Michigan Open from 1955. On the Michigan Open from 1955, three major championship winners played in the club: Horton Smith (1934 and 1936 Masters), Chick Harbert (1954 Pga)…

Washtenaw has also organized an LPGA Futures Tour (now the Epson) tournament and countless qualifications for State Championships.

The Gam Boy’s Championship Tournament format is 36 holes battles games for two days. A general champion and 15-and-under champion are crowned.
