International breaks always bring a few injuries – and this one is no different.
We’ve already seen it Enzo Fernandez (£6.7 million), Pedro Neto (£7.1 million), Mohammed Jerusalem (£6.5 million), Benjamin Sesko (£7.3 million), Anthony Gordon (£7.4 million) and Nick Pope (£5.2m) withdraw from their respective national team squads without kicking a ball.
Marc Guehi (£5.1 million) she followed on Fridayafter reporting for service in England but failing to prove his fitness.
And now a concern about the most owned defender in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL): Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.6 million).
GABRIEL INJURY – HOW AND WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?
Gabriel featured in Brazil’s first match of the November international break, a friendly against Senegal.
For once, he didn’t have to travel far to represent Selection – this kickabout was contested in the Emirates!
The Arsenal stopper started Saturday’s match in north London and got through the first 61 minutes before injury struck.
It was either the stretching tackle in midfield that Gabriel was trying to perform Nicholas Jackson or the subsequent sprint back to goal that did it, with FPL’s top-scoring defender in clear discomfort and clutching his crotch as he staggered towards Brazil’s penalty area.

A few minutes of treatment followed before he gingerly limped off the playing field with Wesley replacing him.

WHAT DID CARLO ANCELOTTI SAY?
Brazilian head coach Carlo Ancelotti looked to the media after full-time and confirmed that it was indeed a groin injury that Gabriel had suffered.
“I don’t know. He had a problem with his adductor, the medical staff has to check it tomorrow. We think this is a great shame, really disappointed when a player has an injury. I hope he can recover well and quickly.” – Carlo Ancelotti on how serious Gabriel Magalhaes’ injury is
WHEN WILL WE HEAR MORE ABOUT GABRIEL’S INJURY?
We should hear more about Gabriel’s injury in the next 48 hours.
Carlo Ancelotti will meet the media on Monday before Brazil’s second friendly match of the break, against Tunisia. That competition takes place in France.
But before then we were able to get an announcement from the Brazilian Football Federation after Gabriel has had further investigation.
Judging by the way Gabriel performed, you’d be surprised if it was anything other than an early return to Arsenal.

From an FPL perspective, there is no rush to transfer Gabriel.
It’s not just the need for more information – we can expect a price hike from him too! Saturday’s injury has delayed transfers so a rise to £6.7m could elude him, but according to LiveFPL’s price change predictions it’s close:
Recall that Gabriel was previously sore against Atletico Madrid last month before making a quick recovery for the match against Crystal Palace five days later.
ANOTHER ARSENAL DEFENDER CONCERN…
Gabriel wasn’t even Arsenal’s first defensive injury of the day.
Riccardo Calafiori (£5.8m) left Italy’s camp, along with that of Newcastle United Sandro Tonali (£5.4m), thanks to a hip problem.
There is reportedly not too worried about Calafioriso Gabriel is the biggest concern.
