Gable Steveson took less than a minute to land his first Takedown as a professional mixed war artist.

It didn’t cost him much anymore to pick up his first victory. All the part of the Olympic gold medal winner Wrestler’s debut on LFA 217 on Friday.

Against a coordinated, 37-year-old roasting Peterson, Steveson avoided an early knee, landed a branchedown of a staircase and quickly connected with a smashing elbow-a sign of what would come. Peterson would never get up again and Steveson would end up and appreciate a first round of TKO finish in Prior Lake, Minnesota, with training partner and UFC Light Heavyweight Goat Jon Jones.

Steveson arrives at MMA, an Olympic gold medal winner and NCAA star who originally went to Pro Wrestling’s WWE. After he was cut by the company last year, Steveson chose to make the leap to MMA, where his skills and an outside shallow heavyweight division can ensure a rapid rise.

“I had a fantastic minute and thirty seconds, and I appreciate you all that you are coming,” Steveson said after the victory and the honor to his team, including Jones and coach Greg Jackson. He also took a small pot shot in Chael Sonnen (a former opponent of Jones) in a promo in WWE style to end the night.

The MMA ceiling of Steveson is still to be seen, shallow distribution or not. However, he started well on Friday and was able to land on the Contender Series (or directly to the UFC) within a few years.

Official result: Gable Steveson Def. Peterson roast through TKO (Ground N ‘Pound), Round 1, 1:38
