Frustrated Postecoglou warns that forest should improve after SCHOK EFL Cup defeat against Swansea – Football News

Nottingham Forest collapsed from the EFL Cup in a 3-2 defeat to Swansea City, in which Ange Postecoglou demanded his players “to improve”.

Forest, who broke up earlier this month with Nuno Espirito Santo, still has to win under their new boss, who succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in Arsenal last Saturday.

The tricky trees took a lead of two goals in the first half against the championship side by an Igor Jesus Double, but Alan Sheehan’s team confirmed a dramatic comeback of the second half to numb the visitors.

Swansea -Capitein Cameron Burgess had withdrew one in the 68th minute and yielded the winner deep in stopping time after Zan Vipotnik had restored the parity.

Before the loss on Wednesday, Forest had progressed in 13 of their previous 15 EFL cup matches against opposition with a lower division and their last four in succession since a 2-3 defeat against Burton Albion in the fourth round 2018-19.

A frustrated postecoglou, who previously claimed that he would have fully informed his new team in a few days of his methods, did not hide his frustration.

He told Sky Sports: ā€œI just thought it was a game that we should have killed long before it came on stage that it did.

ā€œI got the feeling that we were a bit comfortable and thought that the game would end easily, but that is not what happens, especially in Cup Football. I thought we were scored a good third goal.

ā€œI think the boys have become a bit comfortable at the time and you have to know the warning signals.

ā€œWe had to finish them and we had many opportunities to do that, and a few decisions did not go on our way.

“Players just thought it would end that way that way and we paid a tough price for that. We have to improve.”

Forest had 17 shots and collected 2.83 expected goals up to 0.72 from Swansea, but they now have to lick their wounds prior to a trip to Burnley in the Premier League.
