From resilience to recovery: at Jamaica’s side after Hurricane Melissa

Our thoughts go out to those affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and we stand with them during these extremely challenging times. Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on October 28, 2025, causing devastating damage to the island’s western and southwestern parishes. Many families have lost their homes and livelihoods. The coming recovery will be long and will require sustained support from the global community.

The Jamaica Agency team has been working to support both their customers and the communities hardest hit by the storm. Managing Partners of The Agency Jamaica Taffe Stevenson And Rebecca Stevensonwork with their team from their office in Kingston, which is open and operational.

“Our focus at this time is on immediate relief. We are asking our global network to join us in supporting the people of Jamaica during this time of crisis and recovery,” said Rebecca Stevenson. “The spirit of our island is resilient and we are committed to helping Jamaica become stronger.”

Jamaica’s real estate market and business infrastructure also remain operational outside of the areas along the southern coastline directly affected by this unprecedentedly powerful Category 5 storm.

“The Agency Jamaica team is helping those affected by the hurricane find housing and is available to assist clients with real estate inquiries and transactions when the time is appropriate,” said Taff Stevenson. “Continued economic engagement with Jamaica is vital and will support the country’s long-term recovery. We welcome tourism. Visitor spending is essential to the livelihoods of so many Jamaican families who are facing extreme economic hardship as a result of this natural disaster.”

Their team of officers and community partners are helping directly affected communities and families with immediate needs and are committed to broader relief efforts that will likely continue for months and years to come. We join this work and ask the Agency family – together with our partners and global network – to contribute to the following organizations providing critical assistance on the ground in Jamaica:

“Direct contributions to our local nonprofits often reach affected communities faster than larger organizations,” said Rebecca Stevenon, whose team organizes local aid distributions to quickly meet basic needs. “Every donation helps families access temporary shelter, food, fresh water, medical care and the resources needed to rebuild their lives.”

“The Agency was built on the principle that we are a community first and a business second. When crisis strikes, we look out for our own interests,” says Mauricio UmanskiCEO and founder of The Agency. “Jamaica needs us, and we are here for them – today and during the long recovery ahead.”
