World ParaVolley is proud to announce that the first-ever pilot practical Beach ParaVolley Level 1 Coaching Course will be delivered in the Solomon Islands immediately following the Level 1 Sitting Volleyball Coaching Course in late March 2026.

This groundbreaking pilot represents a major step forward in the global development of Beach ParaVolley, with WPV extending formal coach training to the outdoor ParaVolley discipline for the first time. By scheduling the course immediately after the sitting volleyball program, World ParaVolley aims to maximize regional impact and accessibility and expand learning opportunities for coaches in the Pacific.

The Beach ParaVolley Coaching Level 1 qualification mirrors the established sitting volleyball coach training pathway by incorporating both e-learning (Part A) followed by a practical exam (Part B). This first face-to-face practice pilot will take place on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March 2026 and will provide a concentrated, practical learning experience for club coaches, emerging national level coaches and Bach ParaVolley advocates.

The course is designed to build foundational coaching knowledge specific to the beach environment, with a strong emphasis on inclusive delivery, coaching athletes with disabilities and the technical and tactical adaptations unique to Beach ParaVolley (compared to Beach Volleyball).

The practical course is delivered in partnership with the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC) and is led by Coach Tutor Aaron Alsop, an experienced coach-educator with extensive expertise in adaptive sports coaching, volleyball and the Pacific, ensuring a high-quality learning experience based on both theory and practical application.

The qualification is given in English and focuses on:

  • Introduction to Beach ParaVolley Rules and Player Classifications
  • Fundamental coaching (organization and tactics) specific to the 3v3 game
  • Skills development for athletes with disabilities
  • Inclusive coaching practices, session planning and athlete-centered delivery
  • Activating the growth of Beach ParaVolley in developing communities

The Solomon Islands provide an ideal setting for this first pilot, with its strong beach culture and growing involvement in the development of ParaVolley. The course will take place at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport, Honiara, which offers excellent facilities suitable for both practical beach volleyball sessions and group workshops. By organizing the course immediately after the sitting volleyball program, participants have a unique opportunity to experience the indoor and outdoor ParaVolley disciplines in one trip – making them the first dual-qualified ParaVolley coaches in the world.

Coaches can register to participate in this pilot here. Priority is given to coaches who are already following the sitting volleyball course level 1 or to coaches who actively contribute to the development of ParaVolley in their country or region.

This pilot course marks the beginning of World ParaVolley’s broader vision to create structured, internationally recognized coaching pathways for Beach ParaVolley, supporting participation, performance and inclusive sporting opportunities worldwide.

World ParaVolley has strategic ambitions for the development of standing Beach ParaVolley worldwide. With the likely future inclusion of Beach ParaVolley in regional Continental Games such as the Southeast Asian Games and the Pacific Games, the need to develop qualified coaches for Beach ParaVolley is important for sustainable success. Developing the coaching staff and participating in the Continental Games are crucial milestones towards WPV’s goal of including Beach ParaVolley in future Paralympic Games.
