Friday Rockpile: digging in why the Rockie wins more

6 minutes, 48 seconds Read

Last week I wrote whether or not the Rockies could win 10 of their remaining 41 games to prevent the worst team from being in modern times. Even if the projections were to show that they would win at least 10, I never thought the Rockies would take care of half that total in the following week.

Now that Colorado (37-91) has to win only five of their last 34 games, this team has to focus even higher, in addition to trying to play the role of September spoiler. What if they could continue their current speed of winning the house of the season?

After the series with the Dodgers, the Rockies are now 15-17 since the Midsummer Classic, including 7-3 going in their last 10 games. They bound or won their last three series on their way to Friday’s series in Pittsburgh. The improvement was desperately needed after a loose streak of eight games.

The Rockies should go 26-8 to prevent a season of 100 lying. A .765 winning percentage seems pretty out of reach. Perhaps a more realistic, but still challenging goal would be to maintain the profit percentage of .469 through the last piece. That would translate into winning 16 more games to end 53-109.

To be clear, this would still be the worst finish in the history of franchise. While the Renee Dechert of Purple Row broke earlier this week, the Rockies are still a five-alarm fire. The organization still has to make changes to how it works to dig out of this gap and give priority to winning.

Renee also wrote about the Rockies improved performance since the All-Star Break, making them much nicer to look at while they demonstrate their resilience and grit. Being competitive in games, winning some of them through exciting comebacks, the vibes on the field are better. Then confidence increases and breeds more winning. Looking is also much more pleasant. Given this nice piece, I thought it might be good to dig in what the Rockies lets play better and wins more games.

The first remarkable difference is in offensive production. The Rockies will spend less, compared to having the highest strikeout per nine rate at 9.72 to 14 July. In the last nine games, the Rockies have not put a game more than eight times in a performance that they have not achieved since a 10-game stretch in June 2015.

On top of fewer strikeouts, the Rockies get more homers, and they have drastically raised their stroke average, especially with runners in scoring position. Shocking, (add a sarcastic tone here that leads to more runs and more victories.

The improved game of Brenton Doyle has helped to stimulate Colorado production since mid -July. Doyle’s .386 Slag average is the fourth best in MLB since the All-Star Game, while Jordan Beck’s .311 at no. 19 just behind Shohei Ohtani. Doyle’s .418 on-Base percentage EN .651 Slugging percentage are both seventh best.

These statistics show improvement that is really important. With the top -hand first half, which has compared 96 games with the 32 that the Rockies have played since then, it also shows how bad that first half was. The progress of Rockies in just over a month has not moved their overall rankings of 2025 much. The Rockies are still bad, but there is hope whether they can stay in the right direction.

On the other hand, the pitching of Colorado is still very problematic. Looking on the positive side, the Rockies have more starter wins and considerably more Reliever victories and saves. With more victories, especially with an inflow of comeback victories, that makes sense.

The Rockies have stacked the cards against them when it comes to pitching. They must better prepare and develop and set up pitchers to succeed more effectively, but they will probably never be in the top in every category in pitching. The starting pitching and bullpen must be better. But in reality, on average, with an above -average attack, it is the most likely path to a better future for the Rockies. At least the batters show potential flashes in that area.

In the last 34 games, making progress on the hill and on the album could not only bring more Rockies fans after an emotional season that is largely painful, but also help to pave the way for a better 2026.

Rockies Pitcher promises to give up at home for sick child | Onion

In a satirical turn in the famous story of Babe Ruth Fulfilling A promise to hit a homer for a sick child In the World Series from 1926, the onion took the other way to give up the Rockies that gave a Homer to help a child. Well done, onion – as always.
