What a week! (Again) We imagined that we could enjoy the peace and quiet at home on the houseboat, but it has been busy with events, projects and work. And now we’re getting ready for a new journey…!

Finally the camper is in the garage… but then a new problem arose!

After all the misery with the ice-cold water in the camper, it was very nice to finally be able to drive it to the winter garage, which we rent a good distance north of Stockholm. When we got our spot in the garage, we arranged everything that needed to be arranged – taps open, refrigerators open, mattresses raised, etc. – and the electricity cable was installed so that the battery can be maintained charged while the car is stationary. This year as well as in previous years, we chose this garage precisely because we have access to electricity there.

Then the long journey home began – walk to the nearest bus stop, 40 minute bus ride to Uppsala, train from Uppsala to Solna and then train and metro. We only have one car, and besides, I don’t have a driver’s license, so this is what we have to do.

Everything felt really good until a few days later we got a text: “You are no longer allowed to have electricity in the garage due to new rules from our insurance company, so we pulled out the cable”. Couldn’t they have said that earlier…?

Without power we have to disconnect the battery, otherwise we won’t be able to start the camper this spring. Now we have to rent a car one day to go to the garage and fix this… Sigh! It will have to wait a while though – we don’t have time at the moment and would prefer to combine the car rental with doing some other “car errands” on the same day.

At home in the houseboat, but the worries about the camper are not over yet…

Event all week

For us it was a week full of events. A little earlier in the week there was an event at the Spanish Embassy and the Portuguese Embassy respectively. Last Thursday was the day for an event that is important to us: the B2B trade fair Travel News Market. We will talk about this tomorrow!

We are preparing for a new journey

We are now preparing for a new trip, in the form of the last foreign trip of the year. On Sunday we leave by train south through Sweden, destination the German island of Usedom. During a few days of press trip we explore what the island has to offer in the low season, with an emphasis on food and well-being. It will be exciting!

This week: grateful for…

This week I am grateful that over the years we have learned to worry less about everything that goes wrong. It’s almost always something that gets messed up and causes anxiety, but usually it gets resolved one way or another, and I think I’ve gotten a little better at resting in that thought. I am grateful for that.

I am also grateful that Peter is currently in a new ‘cooking movement’ with inspiration from Michelin chefs, which allows me to eat fantastic food at home.

Your turn…what are you grateful for this week?

Next week

Germany and the island of Usedom now await us! Here at FREEDOMtravel.se you can expect some mixed reports, some of which we have prepared in advance. It includes travel destinations in December, Christmas traditions, language use and a product we bought… I hope you’ll follow us! We now take this opportunity to wish you a happy Friday and weekend!
