This greeting from Tunisia comes when we almost is back home. We traveled through Tunisia for a whole week, mainly in the southern part of the country. We are full of impressions, and we will tell you more soon!
To Tunisia – home after three days
It wasn’t until three days after the trip in Uzbekistan that we got home before it was time to leave again. It was maybe light Good little time at home, but it still felt nice to go to Tunisia. We have visited this North African country twice before and we have fond memories of both trips.
We started with an overnight stay in the capital Tunis and a visit to the charming blue and white town of Sidi Bou Said. We then flew from Tunis to the island of Djerba in the southern part of the country.

Hot air balloon festival in Tunisia
For example, we traveled through Tunisia during a press trip, and the theme of the trip was Southern Tunisia and the hot air balloon festival Balloons Event Show Tunisiawhich ran from October 24 to November 1, 2025.

The festival was organized with a focus on southern Tunisia, and hot air balloons took to the skies at sunrise and sunset in three destinations: Djerba, Douz and Tozeur. More photos from this event coming soon!

Southern Tunisia: Djerba, Douz and Tozeur
During this trip we visited three very fun and exciting destinations in the south of Tunisia. The island of Djerba is a wonderful holiday island, with beautiful beaches and very pleasant neighborhoods with wonderful street art.

Often described as the “Gateway to the Sahara”, the town of Douz offers desert adventures with camels, quad bikes and desert camp experiences. It was also here that we had the unlikely meeting with our friends Micke and Julia! Last but not least, Tozeur is an exciting place, surrounded by oases, salt lakes and filming location for Star Wars.

This week: Thankful for…
This week we are grateful for another fantastic trip in another fantastic country. We are also grateful that we will soon have time to spend some time at home.
We are now a bit tired after some intense travel with long flights, repeated lack of sleep and the need to work early in the morning and late at night to get everything in order, while still feeling like we are behind on almost everything. We’re just grateful to get some peace and time to ourselves!
Your turn…what are you grateful for this week?

Next week
We are now leaving beautiful Tunisia and looking forward to spending the next week at home on the houseboat in Stockholm. Our plan is simply to work and try to figure things out. Here at FREEDOMtravel you can expect reports about both Uzbekistan and Tunisia. We now take this opportunity to wish you a happy Friday and weekend!
