What a week…again! We had just landed in Stockholm, after the trip to Greece, before it was time for a meeting at the Uzbek embassy. Now we’ve been able to try both Uzbek brandy and Indian whisky… and we’re planning two exciting trips abroad! It’s not easy to keep up with the turns, not even for us…
Houseboat living and camper repair
Coming home on the houseboat, after five months in Southern Europe with the camper – and a week in Greece by plane – was fantastic. It was partly a purely practical solution, but still: home is home!
We’ve fixed a few of them with the camper since we got home – everything from packing to cooking. And some stay! Most importantly, we finally managed to kill our involuntary fellow passengers who jumped aboard from Sardinia.
We tried for a long time to get rid of the mouse in other ways, including via an electronic sound scare, but unfortunately it seemed that this mouse was deaf… after several broken cables (and many eaten cookies!) we were happy that a traditional mousetrap did the job…

Meeting at the Embassy of Uzbekistan
You may know that we are official tourist ambassadors for Uzbekistan? It is an award that we feel very honored and proud of! As soon as we got home from our camper trip in Southern Europe, the embassy wanted us to come over. We received the diploma from Ambassador Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, who joked that he is not the first ambassador…

We humbly thank you for the distinction and honor! Our biggest task will be to return to Uzbekistan, together with a new group of journalists and bloggers. The best thing about this is that it feels really nice to travel to a country that fills us every time with that wonderfully exciting feeling that grow into something else. That’s what we always loved about traveling!

Indian whiskey – and Indian food
This week we also tested Indian whiskey at India’s restaurant at Birger Jarlsgatan 29 in Stockholm. Exciting! Previously we had no control over Amrut, but now we are all the more privy. We have been able to try a few different variants from the range and we can confirm that this is really good whisky.

The taste varies a bit depending on which variety you choose. I (Helena) liked it Amrut Bagheerawith a light note of vanilla and dried fruit, while Peter liked it Amrut mergerwith a slightly spicier aftertaste.

The whiskey test was served together with food pairing and this was a really interesting experience. Traditional Indian dishes were served, but with a modern and exciting touch. First came a fried dish with sweet potato, then a heated version of Palak Paneer, i.e. Indian cheese with spinach, was served. Incredibly good!

The third dish was a creative creation with lenses and black caviar, and the last was “Panipuri”, classic Indian street food. And yes, this evening has undoubtedly made us curious about India!

So you now have the opportunity to find Amrut whiskey at Systembolaget, although this can be done via the order range.
This week: Thankful for…
We are thankful for many things this week! We are grateful to be back home, because we meet friends we have not seen for a long time and that what needs to be repaired with the houseboat is clear. Your turn… what are you grateful for this week?

The coming week
We are now home in Stockholm, and we will remain so all week. This weekend we are going to a party (with the camper of course!) and an event is coming up a little later this week. Then the new trip to Uzbekistan approaches… after that? Tunisia we think… Come with us and we’ll tell you everything that’s happening! Feel free to follow Instagram @vrijsreisnieuws!
