The expected encounter between the top seeds of 2025 French Open is still in the cards after the completion of the fourth round on Monday. Janik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have both beaten their tickets at Roland Garros in the quarterfinals, and both are still considered favorites to win the second Grand Slam event of the season.
Sinner and Alcaraz are accompanied in the quarterfinals by Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul and Alexander Bublik. That list contains two Americans in Tiafoe and Paul, so the chances of an American slam winner in the men’s bracket are still there.
Television reporting of the French Open has been handled by TNT and Trutv, as well as Max, who promises to record every match of the tournament. These games start clearly and early for viewers in the United States on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Getting past their opponents will be a big assignment for the Americans. Paul in particular will have his hands full with Alcaraz, the second seed in the tournament and the winner of the last French Open in 2024, in his quarter -final Matchup. Alcaraz comes from a four-set victory over another American, the 13th placed Ben Shelton, in the fourth round, 7-6 (8), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Paul, the 12th seed, passed his fourth round opponent, the 25th placed Alexei Pofyrin, in straight sets for his match on the fourth round. Tiafoe, the 15th seed, also defeated his opponent of the fourth round, the unwanted Daniel Altmaier, in straight sets.
The long drought of male slam winners from the US has existed since Andy Roddick took the US Open in 2003. Paul’s best finish was a semi -final in the Australian Open in 2023 (his quarter -final appearance at Roland Garros is his career -best there), while Tiafoe has been to the American Open Semifinals there. Just like Paul, Tiafoe’s quarter -final performance in France is his best ever.
Sinner, the best seed and winner of the last two Grand Slams-de Australian and US opened after a straight set of victory over Andrey Rublev on Monday 6-1, 6-3, 6-4. He takes on the non -seded Alexander Bublik in his quarter -final matchup. Bublik comes from a huge upset about the fifth Jack Draper, but he will have his hands full with Sinner, who looks like the best player in the field and now for a while.
This time Djokovic is the sixth seed and he grabbed his 100th career victory at Roland Garros with a Straight-Set victory over Cameron Norrie in the fourth round. He is confronted with his most difficult test of the game in the third placed Zverev, who took a bit of a break when his opponent of the fourth round, Tallon Griekspoor, had to withdraw from the game early in the second set.
Zverev is still looking for his first Grand Slam victory, after he reached the final of the Australian Open earlier this year, as well as the final in Roland Garros last season. Djokovic may be outside his Prime, but he has won three titles at the French Open and would like to add another one.
Tiafoe, the 15th seed, takes on Musetti, the eighth seed, in the other quarter -final match. This quarterfinals is Musetti’s best in Roland Garros, although in 2024 he reached the semi -final of Wimbledon.
Playing starts clearly and early on Tuesday morning, at least in the United States. Musetti vs. Tiafoe will first be on the men’s side, with a start time around 8 o’clock et. Paul and Alcaraz have the night session, which comes out until around 2.30 pm for viewers in the US. Television coverage is provided by TNT, with further analysis and repetition on tennis canal and trutv, as well as online streaming via TNT and MAX.
It will be a similar deal on Wednesday, when Zverev Djokovic accepts and Biblik will be confronted with Sinner. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka will compete against Qinwen Zheng and Elina Svitolina will be confronted against Iga świątek on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Mirra Andreeva will be confronted with Louis Boisson, while Americans Madison Keys and Coco Gauff meet in the last quarterfinals.
