If you’re in a hurry and need some last-minute Fantasy Premier League (FPL) advice, here’s a quick summary of what you need to know about Gameweek 27.
WHEN IS THE FPL GAMEWEEK 27 DEADLINE?
All transfers and team selections must be made no later than this 13:30 GMT on Saturday 21 February.
HAALAND UPDATE
Among some notable high scores were also some disappointments in Double Gameweek 26.
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes (£7.1m) – dubbed ‘Mr Consistent’ for his rare blanks – could only net seven points for Triple Captain users. 14 of the 18 ‘The Great and the Good’ managers chose this chip.
We didn’t see any of it either Hugo Ekitike (£8.9 million), Bruno Fernandes (£9.8 million), Morgan Rogers (£7.7m) or Daniel Munoz (£5.9 million), while Erling Haaland (£14.8m) scored but had to leave at half-time.
An emphatic nod from Pep Guardiola, which was not used in Manchester City’s subsequent FA Cup win, thankfully suggests the Norwegian will be fine for Gameweek 27.
PLAYERS TO DO
For many, the first thought is: get it Cole Palmer (£10.6m) or João Pedro (£7.7m) vs Burnley. None of these unanimous Scout Squad picks played in the cup, making them novel.
Chelsea have scored by far the most expected goals (xG) in the last six games. The odds are backing them for offensive returns and a nil.
However, the Blues’ schedule is quickly becoming more difficult, and statistics say – unsurprisingly – that Palmer tends to do worse against ‘better’ teams.
Monday’s FA Cup fifth round draw will influence bosses’ approach in the coming weeks. Lateriser really likes the upcoming Liverpool and Brentford matches. Virgil van Dijk (£5.9m) achieved 17 points in Gameweek 26, set up by Mohammed Salah (£14.0 million).
Both the Egyptian and Igor Thiago (£7.0m) is about to reach an impending target. Some may also want to double the Bees’ attack, so we compared wingers Kevin Damage (£6.9m) – back from suspension – and Dango Ouattara (£5.8 million).
At Bournemouth, signing in January Ryan (£5.5m) has scored in consecutive appearances. He is a recommended purchase.
Meanwhile, the tactic of targeting games against Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest may have to be paused. Igor Tudor and Vitor Pereira have replaced Thomas Frank and Sean Dyche.
CHIP STRATEGY
Many FPL managers are likely waiting for Wildcard in Gameweek 31, but we’ve made a few drafts available for those who can’t wait any longer.
