With Gameweek 1 from Fantasy Premier League (FPL), our experts are starting closer to completing their teams prior to Friday’s deadline.

The calmness for the storm …
While I sit down to write this piece, there are just over 24 hours to go until the deadline of Gameweek 1. The research is done, the Fecture ticker has been studied on death and Defcon analysis from previous seasons has been completed. Has my team been arranged? Absolutely not!
Van Dijk + Munoz Doubs

The same happens every year. I have a few players in every design in the summer, then, when the deadline approaches, they make room for the first time when I enter the reflective phase of Gameweek 1 planning.
Two such players are Virgil van Dijk (£ 6.0 million) and Daniel Munoz (£ 5.5 million). I like both choices such as potential seasonal practitioners, but the first three matches of Liverpool are difficult and Crystal Palace play European qualifications on 21 and 28 August, which gives me a break about selecting all their assets. I wonder now, can I go without these two and pick them up later?
Triple Forest Defense

I sometimes want to go against the grain this season. Something I strongly consider is Triple Nottingham Forest Defense for the first six game week (at least). I don’t think too many managers will do that. No Mohamed is wrong (£ 14.5 million), no Erling (£ 14.0 million) and a triple defense in the defense, what might go wrong?!?
Comes early

Tottenham Hotspur Full-back Pedro Porro (£ 5.5 million) has made its first design appearance. Seeing Spurs set up with wingbacks (this will not always happen) and Porro took set pieces against PSG on Wednesday evening reminds me how much I love the man as a fantasy choice.
Spurs has good luminaires, he has different routes to points and I trust Thomas Frank to make them more defensive this season. I think he’s going to make it. I did not exclude to start with a 4-4-2 setup that could see one of Virgil or Munoz coming back.
Gakpo or Gak-no?
