We have compiled our early reconnaissance choices for Gameweek 5 from Fantasy Premier League (FPL).
With EFL Cup promotion and European club luminaires, as well as the upcoming Scout Squad nominations, there is plenty of time for our weekly selection to change.
But at least this early XI gives a glimpse into the players and teams that are taken into consideration.
About the scout picks ‘bunch team’
There are, as always, certain limitations for our team:
- A budget of £ 83.0 million for our starting XI
- A total team limit of £ 100.0 million
- No more than three players per team

The likely boys

Gameweek 5 is a curious affair, because there are not too many striking, must-have goals.
The competitions are largely difficult to call, with the collision between Arsenal and Manchester City that further limits the Player -Pool of the Scout Picks.
Mohamed is wrong‘s (£ 14.5 million) Form has been the subject of a lot of debate this season. In particular, the injury time of the Egyptian injury on Turf Moor on Sunday was his only shot on goal in Gameweek 4. Yet that is precisely why you own Salah, because he is the only Liverpool attacker who you can trust to stay on the field for the duration of the game.
Two of the last four merseyside derby’s have flown in late goals.
“As for removing MO, if you need a goal, it will probably happen this season or maybe next season, but it will probably not happen much.” – Arne Slot on Mohamed Salah
Perhaps the most likely source of defensive return also comes to Anfield.
Liverpool has kept back-to-back clean sheets and given the uncertainty in both full-back positions, Virgil van Dijk (£ 6.1 million) is probably the striking defender option this week. The Dutchman is in second place among the defenders for total defensive contributions (Defons) in 2025/26. It is also worth noting that last season he would have hit the required threshold for extra points in both Merseyside Derbies.
Antoine Semenyo (£ 7.5 million) has five attacking returns in four games prior to the collision with Newcastle United, with six Opta-defined ‘great opportunities’ at the time. Given the schedule of the Magpies (this collision comes less than 72 hours after their Champions League meeting with Barcelona), Semenyo is a good gamble to make the reconnaissance choices.
We can add further display of Bournemouth in the form of Defcon Magnet Mark Senesi (£ 4.6 million).
Contrary

Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur activa can be eligible for their upcoming competition at the Amex Stadium.
The seagulls are one of only four teams that will keep a clean slate this season, so Xavi Simons (£ 7.0 million) and Mohammed Kudus (£ 6.6 million) are tempting choices.
Simons showed flashes of his quality in the London Stadium on Saturday. Brighton has also permitted that 19 key passes are made from their right side, the highest number of each team except Burnley, so there is a considerable auxiliary potential for the set piece Taker.
Kaoru Mitoma (£ 6.4 million) and Yankuba MINTEH‘s (£ 5.9 million) threat about the flanks can give us to make trace defenders stay, spirit.
Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers all come against newly promoted opposition this weekend, but there are not many players who are worthy of being worth it.
Given Villa’s lack of attacking threat, Morgan Rogers (£ 7.0 million) and Ollie Watkins (£ 8.8 million) it will probably find it difficult to get a search.
Wolves’ Emmanuel Kickou (£ 4.5 million) and Rodrigo Gomes (£ 4.5 million), which is unbeaten for shots and expected target involvement (XGI) among his teammates this season, might be able to come into the Defender interview. Creatively lacks opponents Leeds so far:

Above: Leeds has only created five major chances this season, the fourth lowest count in the competition
As far as Forest is concerned, we can measure their team under the Ange Postecoglou, a little more against Swansea City on Wednesday evening, but the first thoughts turned to Matz Sels (£ 5.0 million), Morgan Gibbs-White (£ 7.5 million) and Chris Wood (£ 7.6 million).
Elsewhere, Maxence Lacroix (£ 5.0 million) and Jean-Philippe Mateta (£ 7.6 million) are names in which we bought, especially with the record of West Ham United for admitted from set games (see image below). To elect (£ 6.0 million), who was the best player of Crystal Palace against Sunderland last week, is another option to consider.

In the meantime, Fulham held the previous time -out a clean leaf and host Brentford in Gameweek 5, so cheap Enablers like Joachim Andersen (£ 4.5 million) and Kenny Tete (£ 4.5 million) More than deserve a mention.
Manchester United and Chelsea players might be able to make their way to position. Bruno Fernandes (£ 9.0 million), Bryan Mbeumo (£ 8.1 million), Cole Palmer (£ 10.4 million) and Joao Pedro (£ 7.7 million) can, for example, collect a few votes, but there can be better competitions this week to focus.
Finally, with Arsenal and Man City who came to North Londs, we could possibly overlook both parties in the reconnaissance choices. Viktor (£ 9.0 m) and Erling (£ 14.1 million) are the most likely candidates to make the cut, mainly because of the limited availability of other attractive forward choices in Gameweek 5.
Haaland is directly involved in five goals this season, the joint of each player. He also scored against Arsenal both at home and road in 2024/25, but was limited to only one shot and two penalty box strips at the Emirates.
The longer photos

De as Martin Dubravka (£ 4.0 million), Joe Rodon (£ 4.0 million) and Recapture (£ 4.0 million) could arise as budget defense options, but it feels like others are the newly promoted trio for, at least for the time being.
Further ahead, Jaidon Anthony (£ 5.5 million), Anton Stach (£ 5.0 million) and Habib Diarra (£ 5.5 million) are potential budget enablers, but are much more likely to heat the Scout Picks bank.
Nick Woltemade (£ 7.0 million) In the meantime, an outsider remains, especially with Newcastle in European action on Thursday.
