Four regions, eight drivers, one cause

London, ON, November 13, 2025 — Western Fair District Raceway is once again celebrating the season of giving with the 6th annual Drivers’ Holiday Challenge, taking place on December 9e. This year’s edition introduces an exciting new twist, with teams of two drivers representing regions across Canada going head-to-head for national holiday bragging rights – all in support of Toys for toddlers.

In the friendly competition, four regional teams compete for top honors:

  • Western Canada: Phil Hudon and Daryl Thiessen
  • Ontario: Garrett Rooney and Lorne House
  • Maritime: Austin Sorrie and Paul MacKenzie
  • Quebec: Louis-Philippe Roy and Samuel Fillion

Drivers will accumulate points throughout the evening’s races, with the regional team achieving the highest combined total and taking home the title of 2025 Holiday Challenge Champions.

Those wishing to make a cash donation can send the money directly to mcnivenk@gmail.com. Anyone who makes a monetary donation before November 28 will be entered to win a dinner package for two at the Top of the Fair on the evening of the event. All donations will also be entered for a chance to win a gift certificate to Britt’s Custom Creations, Mare Flare Equestrian and The Keg (donated by Twinbrook Farms).

Toy donations can also be dropped off in person at Kelly McNiven or at one of the following locations:

  • Wilson’s Tack Shop at The Raceway
  • Mare Flare at Flamboro Downs
  • Wilson’s Tack store location in London
  • Western Fair District (Top of the Fair, the market, the sports center)

The first message of the evening before December 9e The program is scheduled for 5:50 p.m. to coincide with Trifecta Tuesday in the Top of the Fair Dining Room, featuring a buffet-style dinner, race and game vouchers and special senior prizes. The event will also be broadcast on Primetime Racing, which will be their final broadcast of the 2025 season.

“The Drivers’ Holiday Challenge is always a fun and competitive way to give back and we wanted to add a new twist this year with the regional component,” said Greg Blanchard, director of Equine Programming. “We are proud to support Toys for Tots again this year and bring our racing community together for such a great cause.”
