SmartCrawl does NOT allow domain redirection. This may have been the case in the past, but today SmartCrawl WordPress Plugin version 3.15.0 gives the error message “You must enter a URL associated with the current site.” so if you try to use an absolute URL with anything other than the primary domain name, that plugin won’t be useful for domain redirection.
What is useful? Don’t know. I am in the process of uncovering that arcane knowledge and will add to it when I have something more useful to offer.
SmartCrawl does not offer a solution at this time. You can try using each domain one page, or multiple domain mappings on one site, but with limitations.
Note that the OP question seems to want the alias domain to be displayed in the browser toolbar. This can be addressed using one of these plugins, but both have a limitation of a 1:1 relationship between domain and target page. Once a target page has been used, it cannot be used for another domain. This fills the website with extra pages that may or may not mess with SEO through content duplication.
Redirection is a very useful plugin and I’ve tried using it to minimize landing pages by redirecting the URL of a source page to the URL of a target page to get around the 1:1 limit, but both domain redirection tools seem to wear out their mojo before Redirection does anything effective. I’m almost ready to return to manually managing the htaccess configuration for this purpose, but a neat plugin would be nicer.
As always YMMV.
