After a jury found him guilty of raping a woman in Lake Oswego in 2021, former Portland Trail Blazer Ben McLemore received a punishment of more than eight years in prison on July 9.

The victim issued a statement that was played via video to the court.
“This was the longest, almost four years of my life. I never thought the reporting of this in 2021 would lead to such an incredibly difficult and long journey,” she said. “The last few years have often felt like a weight that I had to drag behind me, a constant memory of the trauma that I could not fully work because there was no end in sight.”
The incident took place on October 3, 2021 in the house of the teammate of McLemore at the time, Robert Covington. The victim reportedly drank so much that she was ‘unconscious’, according to public prosecutor Scott Healy. I take responsibility for that. It would be an understatement to say that my thinking processes and judgment were affected.”
McLemore was prepared by the Sacramento Kings in the NBA design of 2013. He played for various teams during his NBA career: the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, for his last season with the trail blazers in 2021-22. He had recently played abroad in Europe, China and Turkey.
