Former Houghton Primary Newest in String of SA schools to get on the market – realestate.com.au

Life will be restored to the empty halls and classrooms of many closed South -Australian schools, with various that touch or sell the market throughout the state in recent months.

The former Houghton Primary School 1376 Lower North East RD is the last one to be mentioned for sale – about a decade after the last student left the site.

The 1.46ha site is sold by CBRE on behalf of the Ministry of Education.

CBRE agent Rhyce Scott, who sells the 1.46ha site with Oliver Grivell and Ned Looker, said it was closed in 2014 and had not been used since then.

The ownership of Houghton on 1376 Lower North East RD is a former school.


Houghton Primary School was closed about ten years ago.


It is the last in a series of schools that have hit the market in the entire state in recent months.


It is sold through expressions of interest.


“It is an interesting site – it has three titles, two of them have the national production zoning, making it a bit difficult to develop, but there is one title that has been zoned in the municipality,” he said.

The building includes several buildings, including a former house, a playground and an oval.

“I think the early learning center was an old house,” said Mr. Scott.

While he was only on the market for a few days, Mr. Scott said that he had already received 60 to 70 questions about the property.

“We had a few schools look at it and standard developers, the other option is that people turn it back into a house,” he said.

The sales agents have received various questions about the property since it was mentioned.


It comprises 1.46ha over three titles.


Part of the building was once a residential address.


There is also an early learning center on the site.


The Houghton site is the last in a series of former schools that have been offered to the market in recent months.

Glossop’s Former high school campus Officially of ownership changed in June after the sale of a million dollars, while the former primary school and the kindergarten were picked up for $ 280,000 in January.

There is not yet a word about what the high school site will be used for, but the primary school and the kindergarten are expected to be changed to a house after a young family has bought it.

In the meantime, the old Tarpeena Primary School, which was closed in 2011 and has since been converted into a house, for sale with a price guide of $ 1,125 million to $ 1,145 million.
