Forgotten Suns Lottery Pick Signnly Signs Training Camp Deal with Knicks

The Phoenix Suns set Alex Len with The overall Pick No. 5 In the NBA design of 2013, but he did not debut until the 2014-15 season due to a stress fracture. As with any other lottery choice, especially a top-five choice, hope was high for len, but he did not meet those expectations.

Len signed with the Hawks as a free agent in 2018 and officially marked the end of his time with the Suns. Together with Phoenix and Atlanta, the center also spent time in Sacramento (twice), Toronto, Washington and, most recently, the Lakers. Now Len will join the Knicks for training camp, by Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

Len, who is 32, will not make the last selection of New York, because that place goes to Landry Shamet or Malcolm Brogdon, two veteran -point guards. He is not eligible to sign a two-way contract, but he could start the season in Westchester with the G-competition of Knicks.

He had the chance to perform an actual role for himself in the NBA last season when he signed the Lakers in February. Len was initially planning to sign at Indiana, but turned to Los Angeles after the Lakers have withdrawn their trade for Mark Williams, creating an opening for Len.

He on average only 2.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per match in LA, which appeared in 10 games. Having a quality file center has sunk in the play -offs, so that tells you everything you need to know about how Len’s time went there.

New York has two starting centers technically: Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson. The latter missed most of last season that recovered from the operation, which gave rise to the trade of Knicks for Kat. Robinson came from the bank to the ECF, when Tom Thibodeau cities moved to the four and started Robinson.

Perhaps Mike Brown, who is familiar with len from his time in Sacramento, Kat and Robinson, can start or start cities and take Robinson off the couch. Ariel Hukporti, who enters his second NBA season, is probably the third-string center. OG Anunoby can also play the five in small ball-line-ups.

That all means that New York does not have a terrible need for Len, but the organization clearly sees it in him to put him on board for training camp. Len has a lot to prove to the Knicks (or another team that needs a center) if he wants to stay in the NBA.
