Sports fans of Minnesota must be prepared for a fun afternoon and evening evening on December 25. For the first time ever, both the Vikings and Timberwolves will play on Christmas Day.
Neither of the teams is necessarily synonymous with playing on vacation. This is only the fifth time that the Vikings play football at Christmas, and this will be the fourth instance of the Timberwolves.
Vikings play at home against the lions
The Vikings do not have to travel before the holidays, because their Christmas game will take place at US Bank Stadium. Their opponent is an NFC North Rival in the Detroit Lions. The game takes place at 3.30 pm CT and is broadcast on Netflix.
The matchup will be during week 17 of the NFL scheme, which means that both teams have only one match after this one. If this season is something like the latter, the first outing of Christmas Day will have enormous importance.
Last year the two teams met during the last week of the regular season. The winner would take the NFC North Division title and earn a Bye in the opening round of the Play -Offs. Instead, the loser would be forced to set off for that opening round. Unfortunately the game was not close because the Lions won 31-9.
Of course, this year is a big difference for the Vikings that JJ McCarthy takes over the reins at Quarterback for the deceased Sam Darnold. Minnesota is only 1-3 on Christmas Day, with the victory back in 1989.
Timberwolves are on the road to play the nuggets
While the Vikings are at home, the Timberwolves have to travel to Denver for Christmas to take the nuggets. Although the time has not been announced, since Sham’s Charania called it as the fifth game on the Christmas Docket, it will probably be at 9.30 pm CT. That means that fans who want to go to the Vikings game must be home with time to view the wolves.
Minnesota wiped the four-game season series with the Nuggets last year. They also met in the play -offs in both 2023 and 2024, with the Timberwolves passing by in the last year. In the last two seasons, the Nikola Jokić-guided Nuggets are finished with only one victory than Minnesota during the regular season.
Anthony Edwards flowed last year in 26 points in the 105-99 victory of the Timberwolves on the Dallas Mavericks. The wolves now have a record of 2-1 on the holidays.
