An office employee claimed that they eat tuna three times a day for months a day, her life -threatening mercury poisoning.
Nasha Montgomery, 29, from Alabama in the US, spent four months at the end of 2021 batch-cooking salads with tuna because of its large protein amount.
She would eat with crackers for breakfast, in sandwiches for lunch and as a snack at work daily.
It meant that she consumed about six cans per week, or about 1.5 kg.
But as she revealed in a Recent video on social media, After a few months she started to feel sick and suffered muscle cramps, tingling in her hands and feet, and a metal taste in her mouth.
The results of a blood test that was taken during a routine check came back normally she put it down on stress related to her new job in office management.
But when her condition was not improved, she returned to the doctor, who asked if she had eaten large amounts of food in particular.
“I said tuna,” she remembered. A more detailed blood test then revealed ‘high levels’ of the metal mercury in her body.

Doctors put her with suspected mercury poisoning – when the toxic metal builds up in the body, causing a series of symptoms, including memory problems, numbness, tremors and, in the most serious cases, permanent and deadly brain and kidney damage.
Fishing with the highest level of Kwik includes shark, swordfish, tuna and king mackerel.
According to studies, mercury poisoning is a risk if you eat more than 25 cans of tuna per week, or about 16 tuna steaks.
However, some species, such as Albacore, that Mrs. Montgomery was eating, contain higher quantities of the metal.
Those who try to get a baby or who are pregnant may not eat more than two cans of tuna or two tuna steaks per week due to the risk of mercury poisoning to a baby.
Speaking of her diagnosis, Mrs. Montgomery said: ‘I was in shock because I thought I was doing something good by eating the tuna.
‘It was healthy and the things I ate the tuna were also healthy.
“I felt that I was doing well, but too much of the good can always be counterproductive.”

Doctors advised her to remove six to eight months from her diet until all the symptoms had disappeared.
“I actually had to detox from tuna. I notice as if I was addicted to it, “she said.
I am now very careful about my fishing choices.
“Sometimes I feel tingling or numbness in my fingers and feet, but apart from that I have not experienced long -term effects.”
Treatment options other than stopping exposure for mercury poisoning include chelation therapy – where a machine removes metals from the body via an IV drop.
However, the best treatment option depends on how you have consumed or came into contact with Mercury.
Other options include dialysis and surgery that can physically remove mercury from the body.
Kwik ends up in fish because of a structure in the ocean, which is done as a result of mining and burning coal.
In the UK, the government says that the maximum level for mercury is permitted in tuna products 1.0 g/kg.
Last year, Foodwatch and NGO Bloom, which was located in Paris, found 148 cans, from five European countries, all tested positively on Mercury.
A look bought in a store of Paris Carrefour City had a record level of 3.9 mg/kg, the report said – 13 times the limit of 0.3 mg/kg.
Bloom and Foodwatch urged the European countries to activate a security clause ‘to prevent the sale and promotion of products of more than 0.3 mg/kg.
They also called on governments to remove ‘all products’ with tuna from school canteens, nurseries, pregnancy departments, hospitals and care homes.
However, the UK Foods Standard Agency said: ‘The study shows that a relatively small number of products were above the legal limit.
‘Of the 30 products from the British market, only one product was found that may be at the legal level.
“However, we have not seen the individual results or how they are calculated.”
