Chelsea confirmed late on deadline day that forward David Fofana has joined Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season as they look to get the striker some much-needed game time.
Joao Pedro was Chelsea’s most expensive signing last summer at £60m, but a further £200m was spent on key signings Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian, Jorrel Hato and Liam Delap.
Those arrivals helped CHELSEA winning the Conference League last season and lifting the Club World Cup trophy this summer, beating Champions League holders PSG in the final, but there are players who are no longer needed at the club
Fofana, 23, joined Chelsea from Molde in 2023 but has failed to crack the first team, nor has he made too much of an impact on loan at Union Berlin, Göztepe, Burnley and Fatih Karagümrük.
But the decision was made late on deadline day that Fofana would be allowed to leave and it was confirmed that Strasbourg had loaned him out for the remainder of the season, the Blues posted on the club website: ‘The Ivory Coast international signed for the Blues from Molde in January 2023 and made four appearances in the remainder of that season.
‘He spent the 2023/24 season on loan, first with Bundesliga club Union Berlin and then in the Premier League with Burnley. Fofana has scored four goals in fifteen top-flight games for the Clarets.
‘The 22-year-old spent the 2024/25 season with Goztepe in Turkey and we now look forward to supporting David throughout his time in France.
“Good luck, David!”

CHELSEA is a huge club that Fofana could not turn down, but in the end it appears that moves to big clubs will not always work out and that Fofana will not have to look for another club to get his career back on track.
This loan move is very good for the boy, but ultimately he will have to work towards a more permanent move at Chelsea during the summer window.
PHILBERT completes the move
Chelsea have announced on the club website that Joel Philbert has left the club and completed a permanent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur after Spurs made their moves to complete a transfer deal.
The January transfer window has been open for weeks now and despite all the rumors and speculation, Chelsea have been unable to bring anyone to the club with the ability to make an immediate impact on the squad. They have, however, let a few players leave on loan and on a permanent basis.
There are many rumors that players could be bought before the deadline on Monday, and many fans were hoping that the board would make the decision to bring in a few players rather than let more young stars leave the club.
But after a few days of talking, CHELSEA have announced on the club website that Joel Philbert has left the club, the Blues posted: ‘Philbert signed at the age of 14 during the 2023/24 season, was developed in our Academy and moved into a role for our Under-18s during the following campaign.
‘He made four appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, scoring once and also represented the side this season.
“We thank Joel for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him the next step in his career.”
Tottenham said: ‘We are delighted to announce the signing of Joel Vidal-Philbert, who joins our Academy from Chelsea.
The 17-year-old winger, who has been with the Blues since his Under-15 years, made his Under-18 Premier League debut last season while still a schoolboy and scored his first goal at that level against Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2025.
‘An England Under-16 international, he joined Chelsea full-time last summer and links up with our Under-18 squad at Hotspur Way.
‘Welcome, Joel!’

CHELSEA Letting a talent leave the club shows that the boy pushed for a transfer knowing that he is more likely to get more opportunities at Tottenham, so this move for the boy is a good one.
And if Chelsea had really believed he could break into the first team, they would have kept the kid.
DISATION MAKES MOVEMENT
Chelsea have now officially confirmed that Axel Disasi will be loaned out to Premier League club West Ham United for the rest of the season after deciding to let the defender leave the club.
Despite having all the qualities to be a huge player CHELSEAthe big man has not played for Chelsea at all this season after being frozen out by ex-boss Enzo Maresca, who was let go CHELSEA at the start of the transfer period.
He was reinstated into first-team training by Liam Rosenior, but still wanted to leave the club in the winter window. There were reports that Chelsea and Fiorentina were in talks over a possible deal to see the defender loaned out to Italian football until the end of the season, but that move never materialized.
That allowed West Ham to take steps to complete a transfer deal and at the end of the window they managed to agree a loan deal with Chelsea, which would see Disasi make the move until the end of the season.
The Blues posted on the club’s website: ‘Disasi, signed from Monaco in August 2023, scored on his Chelsea debut and made 44 appearances during his first season at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old made 10 appearances for the Blues in the first half of the season before joining Aston Villa on loan in February 2024.
“We look forward to supporting Axel during his loan spell at the London Stadium.
‘Good luck, Axel!’

Look, that’s clear CHELSEA The back has some defensive problems that need to be solved and it is quite clear that Disasi is not the player who can help alleviate these problems, which is why he was allowed to leave the club.
This move to the Hammers will only last until the summer, but we could see him leaving on a more permanent basis.
