Florida is often called the lightning capital of the United States, although other parts of the country receive more lightning strike.

Florida is on average seven lightning dead per year, which is more than any other state.

The reasoning for this can be attributed that Florida is a more densely populated state, people who spend more time outdoors and are surrounded by water.

Fatal lightning strikes are the most common in Florida, since 94 dead have been reported since 2006. Behind Florida is Texas, who registered 42 dead, according to NBC Affiliate WFLA.

The summer months are most common in lightning strikes, and according to the National Lightning Safety Council, activities such as fishing, beach, sailing and camping that have had the greatest impact on the amount of lightning strikes in the United States.

Since 2006 there have been 108 dead in June 157 deaths in July and 91 dead in August for lightning strike. November the only month without a lightning was reported in the US

This year, six lightning gods have already been registered, with four in June and one of those events in Florida after a man was hit by lightning while he was in water on New Smyrna Beach.

More recently, on July 4, a family of three was hit by lightning on a beach in Florida while under an umbrella, resulted in a person who had to be flown to the hospital.
