It is one thing to be a passionate fan who beef with an opposite fan base on social media, but another to be the executive of a team and to talk like an idiot. Douglas A. Cifu, who is on the Panthers website, because the “Vice chairman, partner & alternative governor” of the team was suspended by the NHL for an indefinite period after an answer that he sent to a fan of Maple Leafs before he was locked is account.
CIFU was in the involvement of a Twitter user called “Dr. Grizzo”, who admitted that he was trying to lure the Panthers director with his comments -but he was astonishment that he received such an answer.
The nature of CIFU’s comments that refers to Canada is the 51st, as well as his political comments with which the competition was an exception, Say in a statement:
“The NHL concluded that Mr Cifu’s X posts were unacceptable and inappropriate. As a result, Mr Cifu was suspended indefinitely from any involvement with the club and the NHL,” the competition said in a statement. “A personal meeting will be planned with Mr Cifu and the Commissioner on a date to be determined.”
The Panthers are currently locked up in a very physical 2-2 series with the Maple Leafs while both teams try to continue to the Stanley Cup. Emotion has been cooked between the players several times, and now apparently also with the owners.
At the moment, the Florida Panthers have not issued an explanation about CIFU’s comments.
