Firsties campaign makes South Island debut

Firsties, hard racing’s brand new campaign to encourage racegoers to hit the track, is about to make its South Island debut.

Following two successful pilot events at Alexandra Park in December, this week’s Firsties Friday will take place during Trot Race Night at Addington Raceway.

The concept is all about encouraging people in the 20 to 40 age group to go to the races and experience first-hand what running racing is all about.

They may be newcomers to the sport or friends of people who already participate but may not be regular racegoers.

To participate, people must pre-register for a Firsties Zone ticket. Those who have registered can expect a complementary drink upon arrival, special food and drink options, prizes and giveaways, and friendly support and guidance throughout the night.

A friendly crew is on hand to look after guests with behind-the-scenes tours offering the chance to meet drivers, trainers and horses, and learn more about what makes harness racing so unique.

The first two Firsties events at Alexandra Park were organized by Jordyn Bublitz. For Addington, the reins will be handed over to Kimberly Butt, a high-profile trainer-driver and Group 1 winner, who will help guide newcomers on what to expect on race night.

Friday’s event starts at 6:00 PM and lasts until 9:00 PM.

Firsties events will continue to take place across the country throughout the year. For updates and to register, visit thetrots.nz by clicking here
